Obituary: Ron Tadano, Longtime Freelancer and Robotic Camera Operator

Long-time freelance technician and robotic camera operator Ron Tadano, who worked with CBS Sports, Turner Sports, and ESPN, and others died on May 8, 2012 after complications from internal bleeding that led to coronary arrest.  He was 57.

“Ron was not only one of the best robotic camera operators he was a great problem solver,” says Ken Aagaard, CBS Sports, EVP of Engineering, Operations, and Production Services. “No matter what the obstacles Ron would always find a way to make the best shot work. And he would always do it with enthusiasm and a smile. He was a good friend to all of us and I will miss him.”

Born on July 26, 1954, Tadano resided in Arizona nearly his entire life. Professionally he was honored with several Emmy awards for his work on the Super Bowl and The Masters.

An Avid fisherman, Tadano also loved gardening, cooking, and music and, in his younger years, sky diving.

He is survived by his girlfriend Linda and four children: Kristal, James, Kendall, and Olivia; brother Charlie Tadano, sister Peggy Hewitt and mother Rena Tadano. For those interested in seeing Tadano at work on NASCAR please click here.
