Thailand-Based Symphony Deploys Ericsson Content-Exchange System

Symphony, a network service provider of hi-speed data communication circuits in Thailand, has deployed a content exchange system from Ericsson to enable the reliable and efficient distribution of high quality TV content. As Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission aims to digitalize all television broadcasting by 2015, service providers and network operators are placing increased focus on achieving maximum network efficiency.

Symphony’s fiber optic networks provide efficient data transmission for circuit links between the base stations of telecommunication companies and also government and private corporate sectors. This enables the provision of services such as digital broadcasting and Metro Ethernet across Thailand.

Symphony has deployed an Ericsson solution that includes the E5710 MPEG-2 SD encoder, Ericsson RX8200 receivers, and the CE-Encoder by Ericsson to enable the reliable exchange of video between central and regional sites in Thailand. The E5710 is the industry gold standard for MPEG-2 encoding, while the RX8200 is a flexible receiver platform that is configured and tailored to the user’s precise needs.
