FOR-A To Participate in SET 2012 Broadcast & Cable Show

FOR-A Corporation of America, a manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, is set to participate at the upcoming SET 2012 Broadcast & Cable Show. The company will demo a variety of their popular solutions in their own stand (Booth D11), as well as within the booth of Brazilian systems integration partner, Line Up. The conference will take place next week at the Centro de Exposições Imigrantes in Sao Paulo, Brazil from August 21-23.

“Participating at this year’s SET Broadcast & Cable Show is a great opportunity for us,” explained Pedro Silvestre, sales director, FOR-A Corp. of America. “It’s the premiere Latin American conference for broadcast and video production professionals, and FOR-A is excited to have its own booth for the first time at the show. Brazil is one of the fastest growing markets for FOR-A, and we’ve made it our mission to be highly active in this region. Through our Brazilian road shows and a recent technical seminar for our Latin American dealers, and now our involvement at SET Broadcast & Cable, we’re showing our total commitment to this region. FOR-A is looking forward to showcasing its product line and connecting with current and potential customers in Sao Paulo.”

Among the products on display at the SET Broadcast & Cable show will be the FA-9500 3G/HD/SD Multi Purpose Signal Processor. The unit provides frame sync and video and audio conversion tools.  Two channels of HD/SD-SDI and one channel of analog composite video I/O come standard, and it is expandable up to five channels. With SDI inputs, two channels are synchronously coupled independently for seamless switching between channels. The FA-9500 also provides A/D and D/A conversion, as well as up/down/cross/aspect conversion. It offers conversion between HD and SD, as well as 1080i and 720p.

Also to be demoed at the show is FOR-A’s award-winning VFC-7000 Super Slow Motion Camera, a compact, lightweight, all-in-one self-contained unit. The camera offers high-speed play-out and recording in HD at variable frame rates from 24 to 700 fps. It features a high-sensitivity CMOS color sensor and electronic high-speed shutter that can operate as fast as 1/200,000 of a second for filming fast-moving events and subjects without blur.

FOR-A will also display one of its popular storage solutions at the SET show – the LTR-100HS Video Archiving Recorder, which features LTO-5 technology and offers HD/SD-SDI input/output. The LTR-100HS makes file ingest workflow more efficient and reduces archive space requirements. Equipped with a high quality MPEG-2 codec, the LTR-100HS includes an MXF wrapper/un-wrapper, so MXF files recorded to LTO-5 tape can be used directly by many NLE systems. LTO-5 tape cartridges can store approximately 50 hours of programming recorded at 50 Mbps.

Products from FOR-A’s selection of frame rate converters will be shown, including the UFM-30FRC modular based HD/SD Frame Rate Converter. This unit can perform a wide variety of format conversions, including 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 720/59.94p, 720/50p, 525/60, and 625/50. The FRC-8000 HD/SD Frame Rate Converter, based on FOR-A’s highly successful FRC-7000 with motion compensation technology, will also be on display. The FRC-8000 is a multi-format frame rate converter for HD and SD. In addition to HD format conversion, the new image processing board in the FRC-8000 also enables SD format conversion. Up converter, down converter, and cross converter functions are also provided.

Introduced earlier this year at NAB 2012, the HVS-390HS Video Switcher will be featured in the FOR-A booth. Available in 1 M/E or 2 M/E sizes, this compact, cost-effective switcher includes 16 HD/SD-SDI inputs and 8 outputs, with frame synchronizers for all inputs. FOR-A will also display its HVS-4000 Series Digital Video Switcher. Packed with features that enable it to be the core device in a video production system, the HVS-4000 is available as a 2 M/E, 2.5 M/E, or 3 M/E switcher.

Other FOR-A products to be shown are the MV-42HS Multi Viewer, the MV-1610HS40 Multi Viewer, and the MBP-100SX MXF Video Clip Server.

FOR-A’s dedication to supporting its customers and developing new relationships in Latin America is further exemplified by their recent participation at TecnoTelevision Congress and Expo 2012, an event which focused on emerging technologies impacting DTV and other distribution platforms. The show took place July 25-26 in Bogota, Columbia, and marked the third year that FOR-A exhibited with its regional partner, Advanced Television Group SAS.
