LTS Showcase Preview: A Roundup of Exhibitor Offerings, Part 2

The 2012 League Technology Summit is fast approaching, and SVG will have more exhibitors on the Technology Showcase floor than ever before. In the weeks leading up to LTS, SVG is highlighting the new products and latest technologies that will be on display at the New York Hilton on Dec. 10 and 11.

Abekas
Abekas will show an eight-channel Mira instant-replay server with two Mira control surfaces, providing shared clip and playlist content between two operators. The Mira server will be configured with four continuously recording camera inputs and a total of four replay channels: two assigned to the first user, the other two to a second. Both users can create clips from the same four cameras, as well as having instant access to all clipped content — no matter who created the clip — and with absolutely no need to “copy,” “push,” or “pull” media between the two user workstations. One user can concentrate on performing live instant replays and creating clips; while the other may concentrate on creating exciting player-spotlight and game-highlight playlists.

Ikegami
Versatility and high performance define Ikegami’s latest offerings. From the company’s Unicam line, the HDK-97C is a new 3G field production camera, deploying next-generation CMOS sensors. Easily changeable between fiber and triax adapters, this multiformat camera supports not only 1080i/720p but also 3G signals such as 1080/60p 4:2:2 and 1080/30p 4:4:4. Also on display for sportscasters is the Hi-Motion II ultra-slow-motion HD camera system. Using a three-CMOS-sensor camera head with 96 GB of built-in memory, it delivers greater than 10X speed for clear, sharp ultra-slow-motion playback of HD sports action. A dual-format 1080i/720p system, it provides simultaneous output of live normal-speed video and ultra-slow-motion replay video.

MultiDyne
MultiDyne’s SilverBack-II with JUICE camera-mounted fiber transport solution features a robust power supply that enables users to seamlessly operate both the SilverBack-II transceiver and the camera attached to it at distances up to 300 meters, without local power or batteries. Over a single hybrid copper and fiber cable, the unit transmits any camera signal, including HD-SDI video, audio, intercom, control data, GPIOs, tally, and power, making it suited to sports-production applications. Using MultiDyne’s SMPTE-HUT universal camera transceiver, users can dramatically increase the transmission distances of HD cameras limited by hybrid copper/fiber cabling. The high-performance transport system cost-effectively enables full camera operation in rugged broadcasting environments — broadcasting, sports, shared control rooms, campus facilities, and arena and stadium applications — extending transmission ranges up to 10 km on just two single-mode fibers.

Panasonic
Panasonic will display the 65-in. TH-65PB1 professional plasma display, which was built to boost engagement and productivity by putting simplicity hand-in-hand with pixel-for-pixel accuracy and versatility. This plasma features built-in capabilities that allow users to write, annotate, draw, and move items independently around the screen with as many as four pens. The company will also show the BT-LH2170 21.5-in. high-performance LCD monitor, which offers native 1920×1080 Full HD resolution, advanced 2D and 3D assist, high-quality IPS panel with wide viewing angle, and a production-tough aluminum die-cast front frame. Rounding out the showcase will be the AG-HPX600 P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorder with 10-bit, 4:2:2 AVC-Intra recording, which combines high cost-performance, easy operation, breakthrough expandability, and a future-proof design to meet needs in a wide range of uses, from image production to broadcasting and sports. A ⅔-type shoulder-type model, it accommodates a variety of interchangeable lenses.
