Aerial Video Systems Capture the Drama at Academy Awards

While Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence stumbled as she approached the stage to accept her Oscar, she can’t blame AVS camera cables. There weren’t any.

AVSAVS (Aerial Video Systems) was at the 85th Academy Awards in force, tuxedos and all.  AVS HD RF cameras have become a staple of the Red Carpet and main show and this year was no exception.

For the Red Carpet, AVS provided two customized Sony P-1 cameras for the steadicams and two Sony HDC 2500 cameras for the handhelds. All the cameras were married to Link L1500 HD 1.4 GHz wireless systems.  MRC PTX systems were used for video return and prompter feeds and were operated in the 2.3 GHz band.  The four camera systems worked from the limo drop-off at Hollywood and Highland Boulevards, down the Red Carpet, up the grand staircase and into the Dolby Theater.

On the main show, AVS supplied a Link HD RF 7GHz system for the mobile jib camera working the front of the stage. Again, a MRC PTX system was used for the video return.
