SGL Appoints New Director of Marketing and Solutions

Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has announced two new key appointments as it continues to develop its marketing and engineering strategies. Industry veteran Andrew Winter joins as Director of Marketing and Thanasis Charitakis as Technical Architect.

SGLLogoWinter will be responsible for SGL’s worldwide marketing efforts. Prior to joining SGL he was Director of Marketing at IBIS where his responsibilities included trade show organisation, product demonstrations, open days, road shows, pre-sales and partner liaison. He has experience of providing PR and marcomms services to companies in the health care sector and the food industry. He also spent five years in an editorial role at BBC Presentation (now Red Bee Media) launching new channels including BBC World, BBC Prime and BBC Arabic. Prior to that he was part of the launch team for BSB.

On accepting his new position Winter said, “I’ve worked in the industry for a number of years and I’m really looking forward to the new challenges that this role at SGL will bring. The company has a great team behind it who I’ve known for a long time and my experience will enable me to add to their established dynamic.”

Charitakis joins SGL from Telmaco S.A. A technical professional with a broad experience of broadcast equipment and tapeless media production and asset management systems integration, he has specialised in Avid and SGL products and interoperability with associated third-parties in his previous roles. At Telmaco S.A. he held the position of Broadcast Sales Engineer, managing key accounts in the broadcast and post production sectors. He has also held roles at BLK and the International Association of Athletics Federation I.A.A.F.

Commenting on his appointment he said, “I’m fully versed in the SGL workflow having spent a number of years working with the FlashNet system. SGL is well-respected through the industry and I look forward to expanding the reach of the company.”
