Campus Clips: NCAA.com to Serve Up Over 450 Hours of Spring Championships; College Football Playoff Locations Set

NCAA.com and the free “NCAA Sports” iPhone app – both managed by Turner Sports – will stream more than 450 combined hours of live streaming video, including coverage of more than 200 events during the spring championship season. The Live NCAA spring championships coverage will begin today with the Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship from Rochester, N.Y., and continue through June 2.

A total of 30 championships will be streamed live exclusively on NCAA.com including Division I men’s and women’s golf, Division I men’s and women’s tennis, National Collegiate men’s volleyball, National Collegiate women’s water polo and Division II and III men’s and women’s lacrosse. Buick is the sponsor of NCAA.com’s live streaming coverage of men’s baseball, men’s lacrosse and women’s softball. With a focus on their Human Highlight Reel, Buick will run video and branded media across NCAA.com’s spring Championship coverage and across the NCAA Sports iPhone app coverage…

…The newly minted College Football Playoff – which begins in 2014 – set its venues this week. Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be awarded the College Football Playoff’s first national championship game, to be held Jan. 12, 2015. Also, the Fiesta, Cotton and Chick-fil-A bowls will join the Rose, Sugar and Orange bowls in the six-bowl semifinal rotation for the new playoff. The site of the title game in the first season of the new four-team event was discussed Tuesday by BCS commissioners. Tampa, Fla., and Arlington were the only two cities that bid for the game…

…The Mountain West Conference set a large portion of its programming slate for next fall’s football season.

ESPN announced the telecast schedule for seven of its Mountain West Conference college football games for ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU. The lineup includes one Thursday and six Friday night games. ESPN will televise a Mountain West matchup over four consecutive Fridays from September 13 to October 4, highlighted by at least one telecast of the three teams that claimed a share of the conference championship in 2012: Boise State, Fresno State and San Diego State. Additional telecasts will be announced in the coming months.

Meanwhile, CBS Sports Network released 21 games out of its 2013 national football television package with the MWC earlier today. The slate features 13 Conference games and eight non-conference match-ups. The CBS Sports Network schedule kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 29 with Hawai`i hosting USC at 5 p.m. HT. That weekend, CBS Sports Network also will air the Sunday, Sept. 1 contest between in-state rivals Colorado and Colorado State at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver at 4 p.m. MT…

…Yale University has agreed to a deal with IMG College, the college sports marketing arm of media giant IMG, for a multi-year ‘athletics sponsorship consulting arrangement.’ The arrangement will see IMG provide consulting services and sponsorship sales representation for Yale Athletics, including support to Yale staff with regard to best practices, proper selling techniques as well as developing the university’s multimedia rights program…

…Longstanding rivals Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois will play in the first NCAA football game at Busch Stadium on Sept. 21. The announcement was made during a joint press conference with the St. Louis Cardinals, Southeast and SIU Monday at the Busch Stadium Press Dining Room…

…The Rose Bowl will ring in New Year’s Day with an extra touch of class in 2014. In honor of “The Granddaddy of Them All” becoming the first postseason bowl to reach 100 games, the Tournament of Roses has unveiled a new logo to commemorate the milestone. The visual mark incorporates aspects of the host city, Pasadena, including the nearby San Gabriel Mountains and design elements inspired by local architecture. The Rose Bowl Game trophy also will get a makeover for the occasion, as the updated version of the Leishman Trophy, created by Tiffany and Co., will include 24-karat gold vermeil accents along a base that supports a football made out of sterling silver…

…For the first time in 20 years, the Missouri Valley Conference is adding an institution, as the MVC President’s Council unanimously voted to extend a membership invitation to Loyola University Chicago, and the Ramblers will begin full participation in all of its sponsored sports effective for the 2013-14 season…

…Portland State rolled out a new look to its athletics website.
