With concern among the professional ranks rising over where the next generation of video professionals are coming from, its becoming more critical for universities to properly prepare their staff and students with training in technology and startegies relevate to today’s rapidly changing industry.

At this year’s SVG College Sports Summit (May 29, 30, Atlanta, GA), Sports Video Group co-executive director Ken Kerschbaumer will sit down with SVG’s newest chairman, Tom Sahara, Turner Sports, Vice President, Operations and Technology.

In this special Chairman’s Conversation, the two will discuss the future of sports video technology, including the impending impact of 4K on HD productions such as the Final Four and the role universities play in passing along the skills needed to foster the next generation of sports production professionals.

Sahara oversees remote operations and production technology at Turner Sports, which televises the NBA, Major League Baseball, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, NASCAR, and professional golf on TBS, TNT and truTV. With a career spanning more than 25 years, he has been involved in almost every aspect of live production. An active participant in development of the HDTV and broadband implementations at Turner, he is responsible for the technical operations of every sporting event shown on the Turner networks. Most recently, he has advanced the use of 4K cameras in sports production, performing experiments during the NCAA Final Four.
