On Call Communications’ QuickSPORT Targets College Sports Coverage

On Call Communications has developed QuickSPORT, an HD capable satellite antenna system designed specifically with college sports coverage in mind.  The college package help colleges expand their sports coverage easily with an exceptionally easy to operate video and antenna package which can be operated by student production teams and requires no technical expertise.  The system deploys in minutes and operates automatically so virtually production team member can become the satellite operator with minimal training.

QuickSPORT expands coverage to more venues – it was designed to be easily transported to travel with the team to away games, deliver high quality Internet bandwidth to currently disconnected fields and be where the action is instead of being confined to a parking lot or restricted to fiber connection points.

Different from legacy satellite systems, QuickSPORT offers much more flexibility to manage today’s IP-based media than traditional DVB systems.  The benefit to schools is that just about any type of transmission can be accomplished.  Schools can easily transmit HD video, SD video, Web encoded streams or use it as a hot spot for live interactive entertainment such as social media and interviews.

“College sports draw a huge fan base.  With the expansion of delivery options to the fans, through webstreaming, regional sports networks and second screen interactive entertainment, we knew it was critical for colleges to have an IP-based delivery method to provide real time content.  The QuickSPORT system gives the colleges the delivery methods they need in a format that they can literally take anywhere the content goes,” says Tim Jackson, COO of On Call Communications.

Jackson participated in Thursday’s SVG College Sports Summit panel discussion: Reaching the Audience: Transmission via Satellites, Fiber, and Wireless.

On Call also offers special bandwidth access plans for educational institutions with budget friendly pricing and automated satellite access.
