Gepco Expands Existing Product Lines, Launches New at InfoComm

General Cable introduced a number of new products at the 2013 InfoComm, as well as the the expansion of the GepcoBrand line of RunONE Powered Cables to include a version specifically for touring and production use.

RunONE Powered Cables combine audio and power, along with optional data, under a single durable, yet flexible jacket. With multiple uses for corporations, DJs, lighting rigs and tours, RunONE allows the user to pull a single cable in place of multiple cables, providing a portable and neat solution that saves time and hassle.

Each RunONE cable combines one channel of power with two, eight or 12 channels of 110 Ohm balanced audio for line level, mic level or digital AES audio signals and can be used with self-powered speakers or in DMX lighting control. Additional configurations of RunONE include two channels of Category 5e cable that can be used for data drops in remote power and audio applications. Snakes with optional data can also be used for digital audio transmission while sending power to Front of House (FOH) for remote locations. Shielding around the power channels eliminates power noise from interrupting the audio/data signal, ensuring high-quality performance.

Joining the existing Professional Line of RunONE cables, the new Touring Line was designed with larger-gauge power conductors and an overall shield. The 12 AWG power conductors of the Touring Line provide a lower voltage drop for long distance runs, while the overall shield reduces outside noise often encountered during those longer runs.

Terminated with industry-standard connectors, RunONE cables offer the option of Edison, IEC and Neutrik powerCON connectors for the power channel; 3-pin XLR, 5-pin XLR (for DMX lighting), TRS and Neutrik. convertCON connectors for audio channels; and RJ45 and Neutrik etherCON connectors for optional data channels. RunONE cables are available in pre-defined and custom configurations.

“The RunONE cables are a great solution for anyone looking to save time,” said Joe Zajac, Sales and Applications Engineer for GepcoBrand Products. “Now the RunONE Touring Line also provides a neat solution where extended runs of cable are needed.”

General Cable also offered its expanded line of Gepco Brand DMX lighting solutions. Addressing industry demands and customer needs, Gepco has added DLC122 and DLC222 to its Gepco Brand DLC Series DMX Lighting Control Cables.  The new cables are designed with larger 22 AWG power conductors for use in extended distance runs without signal loss and feature an extremely durable and abrasion-resistant, yet flexible, polyurethane jacket. Ideal for heavy production use, rigging and touring conditions, DLC122 and DLC222 join DLC124 and DLC224 in the DLC Series.

The DLC series lighting control cable is a true DMX cable with an exceptionally durable and flexible construction. The series features 120 Ohm impedance, low capacitance, double (foil and braid) shield and color-coded conductors for easy identification. Unlike conventional cables that are not intended for data transmission, the DLC series offers reliable data transfer through its data-specific design. The single- and dual-pair designs of the DLC series accommodate multiple lighting manufacturers’ products, and the DLC222 and DLC224 meet the United States Institute for Theater Technology (USITT) standards for DMX512 cable specifications.

“Gepco and General Cable are happy to respond to customer needs,” said Zajac. “The new additions to the Gepco Brand DLC series will provide better performance for DMX lighting control in tough, heavy-production and touring conditions.”

Terminated with industry-standard connectors, the DLC series of cables are available in pre-defined and custom configurations with the option of 3-pin or 5-pin XLR connectors.

Also on display were a new line of  GepcoBrand HydroBloc Water-Resistant Cables. UL rated and in compliance with the TIA-455-82-B Water Penetration Test, the new line of HydroBloc cables is ideal for indoor/outdoor applications and for use in wet locations inside conduit.  HydroBloc cables feature an advanced water-blocked construction, a sunlight- and moisture-resistant jacket and a ripcord for ease of stripping for audio/control versions.

The advanced water-block construction of HydroBloc cables starts with a two-ply water-blocking tape for superior protection.  In contrast to one-ply tape in which water-blocking polymer is attached to one side of a fiber filament tape, the two-ply tape has the water-blocking polymer sandwiched between two fiber filament tapes, which allows for increased volume of the polymer.

The HydroBloc line comes in a variety of cable types, in both shielded and unshielded versions, to cover an array of applications such as data or power control, multi-pair audio, general purpose audio, speaker, communications, power-limited circuits (fire alarm and tray cable), low-voltage industrial process control, CATV and HDTV.

“HydroBloc cables provide an excellent solution for indoor/outdoor applications,” said Zajac. “The two-ply water-blocking tape and water-swellable fillers provides superior water protection in all environments.”

Lastly, General Cable launched its new line of Gepco Brand ABS Shipboard Cables. UL rated and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Type approved, the new line of Shipboard cables offers Gepco Brand quality and performance for audio, video and data applications in marine and offshore environments.

With all of the superior characteristics of traditional Gepco Brand cables but in the required low-smoke, zero halogen (LSZH) construction, the Gepco Brand ABS Shipboard cables are available a wide variety of cable types to cover an array of applications such as data or power control, microphone or line level balanced audio, general purpose audio, speaker, communications, digital audio, high-definition and standard-definition serial digital video, high-resolution analog video, broadband and baseband analog video, networking, wireless systems, VSAT, CCTV, security cameras and general distribution.

“Now yachts and cruise ships can benefit from the same excellence Gepco Brand has long been known for in the Broadcast and Professional AV markets,” said Zajac. “While designed for marine environments, Gepco Brand ABS Shipboard cables are manufactured with the same precision and offer the same performance and features as traditional Gepco Brand cables such as TactiCel Strong Cell Technology for coax cables and easy-strip foil shields for audio cables.”
