Wellen+Nöthen GmbH, Grass Valley Launch Dyno Academy

Wellen+Nöthen GmbH, a Germany-based specialist in innovative IT and AV solutions, and Grass Valley, a leading manufacturer of video technology solutions, announced the launch of Dyno Academy. This joint initiative will provide precisely tailored training sessions for replay operators of sports and other live events so that they can fully master the K2 Dyno Replay System from Grass Valley. Upon completion of the course, each attendee will receive the opportunity to join the staff database of Germany-based recruitment agency BUCH MICH GmbH, that provides professionals to internationally operating media and broadcast companies.

Live production presents replay operators with a huge challenge: They must quickly prepare and distribute replays and highlight packages that must captivate audiences. The K2 Dyno Replay System from Grass Valley provides a comprehensive set of tools that gives operators the support they need in live production replay environments.

Based on the technical reliability and flexibility of the system in a range of applications, Wellen+Nöthen, in cooperation with Grass Valley, can help answer the growing demand for a pool of high-quality live production replay personnel for all types of events. With the founding of the Dyno Academy, customized tutorials will deliver the hands-on training needed by replay operators for sports and other live events to become expert K2 Dyno operators.

“With the rapidly increasing range of technologies involved in nearly all broadcast-related processes, there is a growing demand for highly-qualified live replay operators and technicians for sports and other live events. We plan to meet this demand with our professional training sessions. At the same time, Dyno Academy will serve as a platform for a dialog between broadcasters, service providers and replay system experts, and will offer opportunities for intensive networking,” says Daniel Url, Sales Director and a driving force behind the Dyno Academy at Wellen+Nöthen.

The program consists of customized training sessions for various groups. For example, seminars for standard tasks in broadcasting operations, as well as special tutorials for sports operators with a stronger focus on highlight editing, replay and all aspects of slo-mo operations. The curriculum also includes a special training course for engineers, which covers the technical operation, configuration and diagnosis, as well as maintenance, of K2 Dyno systems.

“We are very happy to have found in Wellen+Nöthen a technology-oriented partner who will support us in realizing this globally unique pilot project in Germany. Since 1999, we have enjoyed a close relationship with Wellen+Nöthen that is based on trust, and we will further intensify this partnership with our Dyno Academy collaboration,” says Mike Cronk, Senior Vice President Marketing at Grass Valley.

Upon completion of the course, each attendee will receive a certificate as a professional Dyno Broadcast Operator, Dyno Sports Expert or Dyno Engineering Operator. In addition, the attendees will gain from the registration into the recruitment database of BUCH MCH GmbH. “With professionals who are also qualified as Dyno Operators, we are able to respond best to our customers’ demands for highly qualified staff that can be deployed flexibly and independently from the replay system. For this reason, we very much appreciate the partnership with Dyno Academy”, says Andrea Brüggemann, Managing Director of BUCH MICH. “Our employees benefit from a broader customer base and a stronger demand for their skills.” On top of this, the attendees will also be listed in the worldwide Grass Valley database of professional Dyno Operators.

Experienced Grass Valley replay operators will begin giving training sessions at regular intervals during the summer of 2013 in Cologne, Berlin and Munich. For the best training results, intensive courses in groups of a maximum of 15 participants are recommended. Upon completion of the course, each attendee receives a certificate as a professional Dyno Broadcast Operator, Dyno Sports Expert or Dyno Engineering Operator and will also be listed in the worldwide database of professional Dyno Operators.
