Campus Clips: College Football Playoff Selection Committee to Include Current ADs; BTN, NBC, Raycom Get Ready For Football Season

After months of relative inactivity in the development of the College Football Playoff selection committee, the men who have reshaped the college football postseason have taken a critical first step. Current athletic directors will be used on the committee, an industry source told Sporting News – a direct reversal from public statements made in May by CFP executive director Bill Hancock. It now appears as the though the selection committee will consist of one athletic director from each of the five power conferences, former coaches and players and possibly former media members…
…BTN revealed its game broadcast teams and studio talent for the 2013 football season. The network’s football schedule will feature 47 games, extensive pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage on Saturdays and football-themed studio shows every weeknight. For the seventh straight year, Dave Revsine, Gerry DiNardo and Howard Griffith will anchor the network’s game-day studio coverage on Big Ten Football Saturday, and will contribute to additional studio shows during the week. This year’s primary broadcast teams for BTN’s football telecasts include Matt Devlin (play-by-play) and Glen Mason (analyst); Kevin Kugler (play-by-play) and Chuck Long (analyst); and Eric Collins (play-by-play) and Derek Rackley (analyst). Mason, Long and Rackley will also make frequent studio appearances. Among the new analysts and announcers joining the roster this season are Eric Crouch (analyst),Chris Denari (play-by-play), Jim Miller (studio analyst), Paul Burmeister (play-by-play), and Marcus Ray (studio analyst). …More from the Big Ten as the Detroit Lions have entered into a six-year partnership with the Big Ten Conference for a bowl game that will be played at Ford Field beginning in 2014. …Raycom Sports announced the ACC Network broadcast team for the 2013 ACC football season. Veteran ACC Network announcers Steve Martin and Tim Brant will once again split play-by-play duties in the booth during the season. They will team up with Dave Archer, who begins his fourth season as analyst for ACC telecasts. Rachel Baribeau will join the ACC Network team as sideline reporter this season, as Mike Hogewood retires from the sidelines after 26 years. …CAA Football announced a slate of five games set to air this season on NBC Sports Network. The schedule kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m. ET when Delaware hosts Delaware State in the schools’ annual “Route 1 Rivalry” matchup on the NBC Sports Network. On Oct. 12, NBC Sports Network will present a CAA Football doubleheader. National coverage begins with Richmond visiting in-state rival James Madison at 3:30 p.m. ET. Coverage continues at 7 p.m. ET when Villanova makes the short trek to Towson. NBC Sports Network’s coverage of the CAA Football continues on Nov. 9, when New Hampshire hosts James Madison at 12:30 p.m. ET. NBC Sports Network will deliver its final CAA Football game of the season on Nov. 23, when the Dukes wrap up the regular season with a 3:30 p.m. ET road tilt against rival Towson. In addition to the five games scheduled on NBCSN, 13 CAA Football games will be offered on select NBC Sports Regional Networks.
