ONE World Sports Launches on Google Fiber in Kansas City

ONE World Sports, which offers coverage of world-class sporting events from around the globe, launched on Google Fiber in Kansas City, MO, and Kansas City, KS. The global sports network was added to strengthen Google Fiber’s new sports tier, Sports Plus, which includes a number of other national sports networks, including NFL Red Zone, MLB Strike Zone and Pac 12 Networks.  ONE World Sports’ strong appeal among 18- to 34-year-olds is expected to enhance Google Fiber’s among millennial consumers.

Recent research by Frank N. Magid Associates found that 56% of 18- to 34-year-olds overall and 63% of the males in the same age group expressed interest in watching ONE World Sports. Overall, global sports are a burgeoning interest among this younger demo. The Magid study also revealed that the addition of ONE World Sports would make more than one-third of all pay-TV subscribers more likely to switch from a different provider to sign up for ONE World Sports.

“ONE World Sports is a terrific fit with Google Fiber’s younger-skewing profile,” said Alexander “Sandy” Brown, president and CEO of ONE World Sports. “We’re very excited to announce this important launch on Google Fiber’s high-profile, ultra-high speed service in America’s heartland.”

ONE World Sports’ launch on Google Fiber is synchronized to the network’s opening of the ONE World Sports Broadcast Center, a state-of-the-art high definition production facility today in Stamford, Conn., and its comprehensive re-launch of the global sports network.

Google Fiber is a 1 gigabit per second fiber network designed to deliver ultra-high speed broadband connections and video to homes and businesses.  It has announced plans to offer the service in Provo, Utah, and Austin, TX, in the near future.
