PlayOn! Sports Names Monisha Longacre New Chief Product Officer

PlayOn! Sports (PlayOn), the nation’s largest high school sports media company, announced today that Monisha Longacre has joined the company as its first Chief Product Officer. Longacre will lead PlayOn’s product strategy, implementation and customer experience.

Longacre joined PlayOn after a 13-year tenure at The Weather Channel where she was most recently vice president of portfolio management and strategy. Longacre’s history at The Weather Channel includes leadership positions in customer experience and consumer application where she set direction and oversaw maintenance of all products on weather.com, created the first consumer subscription products including Notify! By The Weather Channel, and built the first mobile application including radar.

At PlayOn, Longacre will be responsible for creating and implementing the company’s overall product strategy as the company revises its consumer brand with the newly launched NFHS Network, an all digital, subscription-based network broadcasting boys and girls high school sports and activities, and its related products. Longacre will also oversee marketing and public relations activities.

“I first heard about PlayOn as a parent of a child who plays high school sports,” said Longacre. “I am very excited to now be involved in how other parents, families and fans watch high school sports content and experience PlayOn products. PlayOn and the NFHS Network are uniquely poised for growth this school year and I look forward to working with this dynamic team to create the ultimate high school sports viewing experience.”

Prior to joining The Weather Channel, Longacre held positions at McKesson HBOC, Ernst & Young and Lotus Development Corporation. She is the holder of several patents, a former member of the Board of Trustees for the Galloway School in Atlanta and the 2011 winner of the Catalyst Award for Women in Technology, part of the 2011 Red Letter Awards for Women in Cable Communications.

Longacre earned a Master of Science degree in Corporate Public Relations from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Communication Studies from the University of Virginia. She lives in Atlanta with her husband and two children.
