Keslow Camera Selects Full Range of FUJINON HK and ZK Series of PL Mount Zooms

For 23 years, Keslow Camera, based in Los Angeles, has been a top source of high end camera equipment and expert technicians for the most demanding cinematographers in film and TV. With its focus on creating customized, proprietary tools and their outstanding customer service, Keslow has built life-long relationships with clients ranging from award winning television shows and feature films to nationally broadcast commercials and music videos.

fujinonKeslow recently purchased the full range of FUJINON PL HK zooms: the 14.5-45mm T2.0 (HK3.1×14.5), 18-85mm T2.0 (HK14.7×18), 24-180mm T2.6 (HK7.5×25) and 75-400mm T2.8-T3.8 (HK5.3×75) Premier HK Series 4K+ zoom lenses; as well as the PL 19-90mm  (ZK4.7×19) and 85-300mm  (ZK3.5×85) Premier ZK Cabrio Series zooms, which feature detachable servo drives.

Keslow COO Dennis McDonald marveled, “These lenses do not breathe. With other lenses, the image may shift that critical bit when you zoom in and out. But with FUJINON, there’s no image shift at all. They are extremely sharp, just a phenomenal piece of equipment.”

McDonald finds that the focal lengths of the lenses make them extremely versatile, which helps streamline the production process. Ultimately, though, it’s the cinematographer’s preference that decides Keslow’s offerings. “Each DP has their own idiosyncrasies in terms of what they want in glass. From a rental standpoint, we aim to buy the best of the best. Then we give them to our cinematographers and tell them to take them out on a job and see what they think. And from our new FUJINON lenses, all I’m getting is incredible feedback. With such a wide focal range, it’s amazing what you can get out of them.”

McDonald reports that several high-profile DPs are requesting these new lenses. Currently, an entirely hand-held film is being shot with the ZK19-90mm Cabrio zoom. Said McDonald, “It’s groundbreaking what they’ve been able to do with that lens. With its detachable servo drive unit – a first for cine-style lenses – it’s incredibly lightweight and has a very wide focal range. It’s the perfect combination of practicality and performance. Keslow and our clients are sold on Fujinon.”
