Joseph Fiber Solutions’ 4K Replay Caddie Wins Best of IBC Award

Joseph Fiber Solutions (JFS), provider of fiber solutions and fiber termination services for the broadcast and pro A/V markets, won a Best of IBC Award for its 4K Replay Caddie from the editors of TVBEurope and the IBC Daily.

Joseph“We created the 4K Replay Caddie because our customers were looking for an affordable, relatively simple way to incorporate the advantages of 4K into today’s sports broadcast acquisition environments,” said Gideon Uys, director of Joseph Fiber Solutions. “This award is proof positive that staying tuned in to customer needs results in building better products that fill a void in the marketplace.”

The JFS 4K Replay Caddie combines equipment from five different broadcast hardware manufacturers into a single, portable 4K production tool. The 4K Replay Caddie includes the exceptional Sony PMW-F55 4K camera equipped with a Fujinon PL Series zoom lens, JFS’ own innovative Studio Caddie-4K, a Dell computer, and Aja’s Corvid Ultra 4K Scaler with TruZoom and high frame rate capability along with a Ki Pro Quad file-based recorder. The combination provides for stunning live-footage capture, replay with scaling, pan and zoom, archiving, and live playout at half the cost of other systems. It all runs on one standard SMPTE hybrid cable (LEMO or OpticalCON), is easy to set up, and performs in every broadcast environment, including full control via the Sony RMB-750. The Bluebell Opticom-based modular infrastructure in the Studio Caddie allows for easy add-ons or system expansion.

TVBEurope presents news examining the evolving workflow challenges the broadcast industry faces as it continues to expand into new formats such as HD and 3DTV and platforms such as IPTV and Mobile TV, and further implements IT-centric workflows. The TVBEurope and IBC Daily teams chose the best products from among thousands of new products that appeared at IBC2013. The JFS 4K Replay Caddie was one of only 81 products that made the Best of IBC list this year.

“The cloud, the increasing predominance of IT-based systems, and 4K were the key trends at IBC this year. The show was packed with more than 1,400 exhibitors, most of whom had new products on display,” said Fergal Ringrose, editorial director at TVBEurope. “For those who couldn’t make it to Amsterdam, or who just couldn’t get to every stand, the combined teams of The IBC Daily and TVBEurope picked out the most interesting innovations, particularly cost-effective and workflow-efficient approaches designed to make broadcasters’ lives easier.”
