Campus Clips: AP Says NCAA Not Considering Major Changes to Leadership Structure; Networks Continue to Roll Out Men’s Hoops Schedules

While there has been much chatter of a massive change in leadership across college sports, it appears the industry may be much further away from that fact than originally though…at least in the eyes of the NCAA. According to the Associated Press, there is no suggestion within the NCAA of blowing things up and even the idea of splitting off the big-money BCS schools into their own division gets little traction. But the leadership of the governing body for collegiate athletics has to become “more nimble, more strategic, appropriately representative,” said Nathan Hatch, chair of the NCAA’s board of directors…

… ESPN will continue to serve as the leading home for college basketball with the industry’s most extensive package of game and studio coverage in 2013-14 – approximately 1,500 exclusive games involving 276 teams from 31 Division I conferences across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3, ESPNEWS and Longhorn Network. …The West Coast Conference is set for unprecedented live coverage At least 90 percent (81 of 90) of this year’s West Coast Conference men’s basketball games will be televised on a national or regional level, or produced for broadcast on the conference’s new network, TheW.tv. …Rutgers University is looking to turn social clout into a currency. The Scarlet Knights introduced a new mobile application called “Fan-I-Am” during last weekend’s Homecoming festivities. The app allows Rutgers fans to win prizes through posts, tweets and tags. Rutgers Athletics partnered with Augeo Marketing to create the app.
