Ukrainian Broadcaster Taps Grass Valley for 24/7 Programming Delivery

Bank TV, a satellite broadcaster in the Ukraine, has launched a complete, end-to-end high definition (HD) news production solution from Grass Valley to facilitate the smooth delivery of its 24/7 programming. At the core of the broadcaster’s new structure is GV STRATUS nonlinear media production tools for enhanced production and a streamlined workflow. GV STRATUS is being used in tandem with EDIUS multiformat nonlinear editing software and GV Edge Integrated Playout System with K2 Edge playout nodes for 24/7 playout. This deal with Bank TV builds upon the recent momentum generated by Grass Valley in the Ukrainian broadcast market as well as traction gained by GV STRATUS in the EMEA region.

To round out its powerful new infrastructure, Bank TV also selected four LDK 3000 multiformat HD cameras, a Kayak HD video production switcher, a Jupiter™ routing control solution, a Concerto routing switcher, GeckoFlex signal management, and K2 SAN Storage.

“The biggest challenge we faced was needing to build a complete, 24/7 workflow with limited funds and a skeletal footprint,” explained Dmytro Tarasov at Bank TV. “We knew Grass Valley’s expertise in broadcast technologies coupled with its cutting edge newsroom solutions would make this possible for us. With our new solution in place, we’re combining the most sophisticated file-based technologies and engineering expertise at a price point that worked very well for our budget.”

GV STRATUS offers a wide range of software-centric tools with support for ingest, editing, content aggregation, logging, transfer and playout. It combines with EDIUS to offer powerful, real-time editing functionality. GV Edge offers a robust and proven Linux-based playout solution that includes built-in graphics and multiscreen delivery capability. Together, these solutions form a seamless production and delivery platform for Bank TV bringing premium and high-quality programming around the clock to its viewers.

“In Ukraine and Russia, where the broadcast market is rapidly evolving, it’s important for us to offer economic solutions that allow stations to advance their infrastructure without financial constraints,” commented Said Bacho, Senior Vice President EMEA, Grass Valley. “Our deal with Bank TV clearly signifies this business model, and we’re pleased that they now have the best tools in the business to effectively manage their operations and bring news to their viewers around the clock.”
