SVG Summit Showcase Preview: A Roundup of Exhibitor Offerings, Part 3

The 2013 SVG Summit is fast approaching and will host more exhibitors on the Technology Showcase floor than ever before. In the weeks leading up to the Summit, SVG is highlighting the new products and latest technologies that will be on display at the New York Hilton Dec. 16 and 17.

Abekas
Abekas released new V4.7 software for the Mira instant-replay server in November. New features have greatly streamlined and expanded the functionality of the Mira instant-replay–control surface, providing operators even greater flexibility and ease of use. Contributing to an enhanced user experience are new playlist attributes, single-button multi-clip insert into playlists, new Marks feature, and new user-preference settings.

For Mira production server, the V4.7 software adds 4K/Ultra HD video support and AMP protocol via Ethernet—allowing Mira video channels to be controlled from external devices supporting AMP.

The V4.7 software is available at no cost for all Mira server customers.

Aframe
Aframe’s powerful cloud video platform is designed for faster, easier collaboration, review and approval, archive, and tagging to deliver breaking news to major sports and news broadcasters at breakneck speed. The latest capabilities include uploading any native video file with absolutely no size limitations; automated transcoding to Web viewing copy and HD broadcast formats; expediting upload, ingest, and delivery of mixed-media content to air; and providing anywhere anytime secure access to full-resolution footage. Adding logs, tags, or transcriptors so that footage is readily searchable and accurately assigned to the correct points on the timecode.

AirWatch
AirWatch provides enterprise-grade mobility management and security solutions designed to simplify mobility. The company manages the most valuable assets — mobile devices — for more than 8,000 customers across the world, including applications, content, and security requirements on those devices. From deployment through support, the company’s highly scalable solution provides an integrated, real-time view of an entire fleet of corporate and employee-owned Apple iOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry, and Symbian devices.

With more than 1,500 employees, 450 focused on R&D, AirWatch offers a comprehensive mobility-management solution: mobile security, device management, application management with SDK for enterprise apps, secure content management, and advanced mobile integration. Click Effects
Click Effects’ video- and audio-content-control and -delivery systems for live-event production, particularly the CrossFire and the Blaze systems, are setting new benchmarks for delivery, management, and control of content for not only stadiums and arenas but remote broadcast applications.

Using simple point-and-click, Click Effects systems deliver scheduled and live impulse video clips, audio tracks, graphics, animations, and sponsor ads that not only entertain audiences but provide a source of revenue-generating opportunities.

DTS
DTS’s technology called DTS Headphone:X offers a high-quality surround-sound experience using only a pair of headphones, any headphones. Designed for today’s “on-the-go” consumer, Headphone:X brings a new level of in-venue excitement to the game, no matter where the user may be watching. In addition, DTS licensee DaySequerra will exhibit the iLM8 live intelligent loudness meter, whose design features two dedicated ultra-fast TI DSPs to simultaneously measure both 5.1-surround and LtRt-stereo streams and display “Dialog vs. Effects” loudness of the full 5.0 mix, C isolated, and the difference between C and the rest of the program elements (4.0).

Eurovision
Eurovision, operated by the EBU, and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) recently agreed on the U.S. exploitation of the media rights to the 2015 and 2017 FIS Alpine and Nordic Ski World Championships, including the 2015 Alpine Ski World Championships, in Vail/Beaver Creek, CO.

Under the deal, USSA will manage rights distribution in the U.S. for major national networks, sports networks, and other cable broadcasters. The association will handle exclusive multiplatform exploitation in the U.S. of these showcase FIS events, including for television, radio, and online and mobile platforms.

In addition, EBU subsidiary Eurovision Production Coordination (EPC) will manage all production of the two FIS World Cups in Vail/Beaver Creek, the first between Nov. 29 and Dec. 8, which will serve as test events for the 2015 Alpine Ski World Championships, for which EPC will be host broadcaster.

Thinklogical
Thinklogical has several new products — Thinklogical Velocity 3 scaling receiver, the SDIXtreme 6G+ dual-fiber 4K extender module, the eSATA extender module, and the HDMI input card for Thinklogical matrix switches — that allow the secure transmission of a variety of digital video, data, and peripheral signals over fiber-optic cables at the highest possible bandwidth and resolution.

The Velocity 3 scaling receiver offers improved performance and a substantially easier integration by automatically formatting video signals to best fit the display. The Thinklogical SDIXtreme 6G+ dual-fiber extenders enable the extension of video signals at 4K/Ultra HD resolutions to distances up to 80 km/50 miles, with no latency or loss of quality. The eSATA interface is commonly used in professional-workstation, video-editing, and graphic-design applications, supporting hard-disk drives at throughput speeds up to 6 Gbps. And Thinklogical’s first copper-interface input card simplifies the ability to extend HDMI video and audio by eliminating the need for a separate transmitter.
