The Switch Launches SwitchIT 3.0

OnDecember 28, The Switch successfully launched the next generation of SwitchIT, SwitchIT 3.0, The Switch’s proprietary customer-controlled software that has been serving broadcasters, since early 2012. Within SwitchIT 3.0, customers now have the option of choosing between the Classic SwitchIT a newly designed one page ordering method and XprsIT, The Switch’s newly unveiled wizard graphical ordering method, allowing customers to book a feed in mere seconds.  Both systems provide user friendly and fast ways of placing local or ICOD Inter City On Demand (long distance) orders.

SwitchIT 3.0 was completely redesigned using customer feedback given over the past year.  Design features include a brighter, easier to read color-coded screen, which identifies the order flow and required information. SwitchIT 3.0 allows the customer to quickly navigate the booking screen using only “one-touch” steps.

Across the newly designed homepage, news and information from The Switch and up-to-the-minute information crawl keeps customers informed of current events as well as new customers and facilities that have recently been connected to The Switch Network.  In addition a flashing red Alert button prompts customers to take note of information related to operational and maintenance issues that are relevant to them.

“We have spent a considerable amount of time and effort in both listening and responding to the needs of our customers as we developed SwitchIT 3.0,” said Scott Beers, President and CEO of The Switch.  “Through both the research pre-design and the testing pre-launch, we are confident customers of The Switch are going to be very happy with SwitchIT 3.0.  There’s nothing else in the market like it.”

The launch of SwitchIT 3.0 follows the recent completion of Phase 3 of The Switch’s 50-city expansion.  In September, The Switch added 11 additional cities to its network for a total of 44 locations.  The Switch has already begun implementation plans to double the capacity of its current 10Gbps uncompressed network to 20Gbps.
