The new cameras join the 63 Ikegami HD cameras already in use across F&F’s five-truck GTX Signature Series fleet. With its ability to deliver both exceptional 1080i and 720p HD 16:9 video (or 4:3 SD), Ikegami’s HDK-79EC2 employs Ikegami’s latest 2/3-inch 2.5 mega-pixel CMOS sensors.  The HDK-79EC2 can be used with Ikegami’s CCU-890M camera control unit for built-in fiber and optional triax connectivity for convenient mobile and studio flexibility. Users can choose the type of camera cable with a simple switch at the CCU, combined with mounting the docking FA fiber adapter or TA triax adapter to the camera head, making the cameras very versatile.

“The imagery and visual performance of the HDK-79EC2 is very clear and provides a very crisp viewing experience for our clients and their viewing audience,” says George Orgera, President and CEO for F&F Productions. “F&F worked hand-in-hand with Ikegami as we were transitioning into the HD world to help perfect the CMOS technology that would best serve our multi-format client base. Ikegami has continued to improve the technology each year, and provided F&F with upgrades to our existing inventory to remain current.”

F&F Productions’ fleet is constantly in demand, with a full schedule of high-profile deployments that include NFL football, college football, the US Tennis Open, Masters Golf, NCAA basketball including Sweet 16 playoffs and Final Four coverage, multiple award shows including The Latin Billboards, hundreds of concerts and other events throughout the US.

F&F’s five-truck GTX Signature Series fleet now features 75 Ikegami HD cameras.

“We have relied on Ikegami for over 30 years,” Orgera says. “Life on the road is tough, not only on our people but on the equipment as well. Our fleet of cameras work an average of 250-plus days a year, going from one venue to the next getting set up, torn down, packed and unpacked. They get a pretty good workout.  Ikegami has proven through the years to be the workhorse of the industry, and their cameras absorb these taxing situations quite well.”

For Clearwater, FL-based F&F Productions, having Ikegami cameras onboard is part of a successful formula in the highly competitive mobile production field.

“We wouldn’t say it is any one thing that has helped F&F garner some of the most prestigious events in the country,” George Orgera explains. “The exceptional design of our mobile units, the choices of technology and equipment partners like Ikegami are key factors. Couple those that with our stellar engineering staff and management team, and our clients recognize they are getting an entire package from F&F.”
