The Switch Secures New Studios Nationwide

The Switch has announced that a number of studios — including those in Denver, San Francisco, Houston, Boston, and Salt Lake City — have recently added connections from their local headquarters to The Switch’s national network.

Denver
West Works Studios is now connected with HD/SD bi-directional fiber to The Switch-Denver. West Works Studios is conveniently located within Comcast’s 4100 East Dry Creek Road facility in Centennial, about a 20-minute drive from downtown Denver. West Works Studios offers two studios with adjacent control rooms for HD/SD single or multi-camera capabilities to support live shots, media tours and play outs. Post production suites are also available.

San Francisco
Beyond Pix Studios recently added an uncompressed HD-SDI connection from their San Francisco headquarters to The Switch. Conveniently located in downtown San Francisco, Beyond Pix Studios has two fully equipped sound stages and three broadcast studios, which offer single or multi-camera production, making them a valuable resource for media makers.  Their studios are perfect for live or taped interviews, webcasts, and commercial productions.  With robotic controlled camera rigs, custom electronic backdrops, grid lighting, hard-wired audio, teleprompters, green screens, sets that range from a fully functioning kitchen to anchor desks, a green room, craft services, and makeup services, Beyond Pix Studios offers everything to make your live or taped shot professional and polished.  Beyond Pix Studios is also fully prepared to meet your play out requirements offering multiple formats ranging from to DV-CAM to Digital Betacam, HD, DVCPro HD and everything in between.

Beyond Pix Studios’ Post Production Department offers several High Definition Adobe Premiere editing Suites, as well as Avid Media Composer and Final Cut Pro capability, Adobe Creative Suite and Cinema 4D graphics design studios, and ProTools audio recording and mixing suite.   In addition to its studios, play out, and post facilities, Beyond Pix’s Production Department can accommodate High Definition single camera location shoots with their grip and lighting fleet, as well as multi-camera switched productions with their deluxe mobile control room.  Beyond Pix Studios’ talented camera crews are utilized on a variety of assignments.  They have extensive news, sports, live event, and corporate production experience.

Houston
Video Perspective in Houston, TX, has added bi-directional fiber connections via The Switch. Video Perspective offers single and multi-camera facilities to support live shots, media tours and play outs. With both inbound and outbound fiber connectivity, Video Perspective can accommodate all of your live broadcast needs. Their newly renovated facility is conveniently located in the EaDo district of downtown Houston, only five blocks from Toyota Center, BBVA Compass Stadium and nine blocks from Minute Maid Park. Reliant Stadium is a short 15-minute drive from the studio.

Video Perspective has two soundproof studios and a fully equipped master control room to support your single and multi camera production needs. Additionally, three FCP/Adobe edit suites networked to a 42 TB RAID storage system and a full complement of VTR’s are available to support your post and play out requirements.  A kitchen and craft services area, make-up room and production workspaces are available for clients who need a centrally located office when working in Houston.

Boston
VideoLink recently installed bi-directional HD-SDI connectivity between its Newton, Massachusetts studios and the Boston Switch.  These lines complement the Switch connection from VideoLink’s Liberty Square studio in Downtown Boston.

VideoLink Newton is a full service, high definition facility offering single and multi camera production studios, play out, editing and webcast.  Green rooms, make up and craft services are additionally available.  VideoLink Newtown is conveniently located at 1230 Washington Street, just minutes from the Mass Pike, Cambridge, and central Boston.

The studios are available 24/7/365 and are used by a wide variety of guests with extensive knowledge on everything ranging from politics and finance to pop culture and healthcare. VideoLink’s VLGuru™ database lists more than 1,400 experts who are available for live interviews from its Boston and Newton studios and other VideoLink locations.

Salt Lake City
The Switch has now welcomed Connect2Sat to The Switch-Salt Lake City. Connect2Sat, a joint venture of Echostar Satellite Services and LBISat, is a turnkey, on-demand answer to your occasional use satellite needs.   The Connect2Sat solution is a dedicated uplink to 9 MHz Ku band space segment on AMC16 at 85 West.

Getting to the satellite is as simple as getting to any other destination on The Switch–just choose the Connect2Sat-2 destination port on your Switch control panel.    If the Connect2Sat-2 destination shows as available, then the Connect2Sat uplink and space segment are available as well.  Even though your requirement may be occasional, the Connect2Sat uplink and satellite time is full-time, ready to accept video when you send it.    Any HD or SDI video routed to that destination will immediately appear on the satellite.   (No ASI, at this time please.)

Connect2Sat can support additional uplink configurations outside of their standard on-demand service.  Non-conforming uplinks need to be arranged through a Connect2Sat representative.
