Allied Broadcast Group Caters to HD Needs of Various Sizes, Budgets
Allied Broadcast Group (ABG) knows that HD needs come in many shapes, sizes, and price points. To deal with the different project requirements and budgets, ABG offers a variety of solutions to fill the vast array of needs.
“We work with schools and sports-production companies from high school to Division I schools,” explains ABG owner Mark Chapman. “We listen carefully to the customer’s need to [have] a custom solution to accomplish their goals. We can accommodate a wide variety of productions and budgets.”
ABG’s inventory includes a newly refurbished and upgraded 53-ft. HD expando, complete with Grass Valley LDX cameras and a Kayenne production switcher. Currently owned by a production company that covers Division I football and basketball, ABG was commissioned to help sell the unit.
However, knowing that not every production calls for a 53-ft. expando, ABG has more 20 production trucks of different sizes at its disposal and several flypack options.
Recently, ABG partnered with one of its strategic integrators to customize a 20-ft. HD production truck. The mobile unit was built to accommodate up to six Sony HXC100 cameras and offers optional EVS Nano, AJA Ki-Pro gear, and a Ross Carbonite switcher.
“It was designed for maximum use of space, keeping under CDL requirements,” explains Chapman. “After doing local sports and events in the Northeast for about a year, it was sold to Canadian company doing CFL and other sports.”
Since 1997, ABG has specialized in sports and mobile production. In addition to selling a full complement of production gear and trucks, the company offers pre-owned gear and can help liquidate a customer’s old inventory or decommissioned equipment. The company also offers appraisal services.
“It has been said a person doesn’t buy a drill because he wants a drill; he wants a hole,” says Chapman. “The drill is simply a tool to accomplish a task. Our job is to help you, the video-production professional, obtain the right tool for the job, at the right time, and the right price.”
