Sportvision’s Work on America’s Cup to be Honored at SVG Europe Technical Achievement Awards
SVG Europe and its Advisory Council is pleased to announce that Sportvision will be the recipient for the 2014 Technical Achievement Award for its technology deployment related to the 2013 America’s Cup race. Sportvision, along with this year’s recipients for Production Achievement (FIFA and HBS for the World Cup and OBS for the Olympics), will be honored at a reception to be held in Amsterdam at the IBC Convention on Saturday, Sept. 13.
“Sportvision’s work caught the eye of our committee as it took the use of virtual graphics and data to a whole new level and, more importantly, transformed the very nature of how sailing events will be produced in the future,” says Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG, Executive Director, Editorial Services. “It turned an event that, historically, has been hard to watch as a viewer without any true semblance of what is going on into a data-rich experience. More importantly, it exemplifies the best use of new technology: changing the way the story of a sport is told and making it more exciting than ever.”
