YES Network Turns Derek Jeter Day into Full-Day Affair

The YES Network is pulling out all the stops for Derek Jeter Day at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, rolling out a full day of Jeter-centric programming to surround the Yankees’ matchup with the Kansas City Royals. The coverage is a full season-in-the-making effort, as the YES Network production team has compiled a parade of interviews and vignettes on Jeter. Live coverage of the festivities will be hosted by Bob Lorenz, Jack Curry and John Flaherty in the YES studio, and Michael Kay, Paul O’Neill and David Cone will be at the Stadium.

YES Network’s Derek Jeter Day programming includes:

  • 11:30 am: Yankeeography: Moments of Glory special focusing on Jeter’s 3,000th career hit.
  • 12:00 pm: Special Jeter pre-game show, featuring tributes from fellow MLB players, other athletes, and celebrities Jeter ceremony live, etc.
  • 1:00 pm: Royals-Yankees game telecast
  • 4:00 pm: Derek Jeter: Salute 2 The Captain, a 2-hour special premiering immediately following the conclusion of the game which will feature:

  • Meredith Marakovits’ one-on-one sit-down interview, in which Jeter discusses his favorite teammates and his toughest opponents, as well as his image and career reflections.
  • Jeter’s Journey, a feature reported and narrated by Jack Curry and featuring interviews with people who played major roles in Jeter’s development, including Gene Michael, Mike Hinga (Jeter’s coach at Kalamazoo [Mich.] High School, Gary Denbo (Jeter’s minor league coach), Brian Butterfield (former Yankees first base coach), Luis Sojo (Jeter’s former Yankees teammate).
  • Tributes from MLB players, stars from other sports, and other celebrities
