Spain's Hispasat offers test channel to drive 4K TV in Latin America
Story Highlights
Latino.foxnewws.com reports that Spanish satellite operator Hispasat said that in October it will begin offering a free test channel to Latin American pay TV providers and distributors, enabling them to air programming in ultra-high definition, or 4K, in the region.
“We want to encourage the companies in Latin America to try out and invest in this technology, and I’m sure that 4K will be very well-received in the region,” Hispasat’s chairwoman, Elena Pisonero, told Efe.
Pisonero, who participated in the 2014 Latin American Satellite Conference in Rio de Janeiro, said the test channel will be available to all companies that transmit programming based on Hispasat’s Amazonas 4A satellite, which covers all of Latin America.
