Globalstar Employs Level 3 Network, Infrastructure to Reach Customers in 120 Countries

Globalstar, an international satellite communications provider, has selected Level 3 Communications to provide a fully meshed Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network for their ground stations across the globe.

A multinational company with customers on every continent, Globalstar is upgrading its backbone infrastructure and needed a network provider that could offer connectivity and continuity around the globe. They selected Level 3’s network and services for its resilient, secure, and redundant capabilities.

“Level 3 has a global, world-class network,” said Jay Monroe, CEO of Globalstar. “By selecting Level 3’s meshed MPLS architecture, we are enhancing our reliability to provide optimal service and capabilities for our customers today and with our second generation network deployment in 2015. Level 3 was a logical choice for many reasons, including their deep U.S. fiber footprint which we plan to use for our terrestrial low power service (TLPS) wireless broadband deployment.”

“At our core, we enable the world to communicate,” said Edward Morche, senior vice president of Sales for Level 3. “Providing Globalstar with our secure, flexible services means their customers can tap into our network around the globe.”
