Golf Channel’s Fly Cam Sets Indoor TV Record

The “Fly Cam” Golf Channel utilized for its live coverage of the 2015 PGA Merchandise Show on Jan. 21 represented a record for the longest span of any camera of its type used for indoor events.  At 1,200 feet, the camera was suspended above the PGA Show floor, providing a unique, aerial viewpoint of golf’s largest equipment and technology show taking place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

The Fly Cam is widely known for its use in televising action sports and downhill skiing.  The Fly Cam record for outdoor events stands at 3,800 feet, used during NBC’s Olympic coverage of downhill skiing.

Morning Drive, Golf Channel’s morning news and lifestyle show, continues its coverage of the PGA Merchandise Show through last week.  Golf Central, the network’s evening news show, also reported live throughout the week, featuring interviews and special segments.
