Adtec Digital Supports Super Bowl, Phoenix Open Broadcasters

Adtec Digital is currently celebrating its 30th year of providing encoding/decoding systems for broadcast television, and, this week, it’s also celebrating a successful couple of weeks in Phoenix, where it supported multiple clients at the NFL Pro Bowl, Super Bowl XLIX, and the Phoenix Open.

“We stand behind our dependability, flexibility, accessibility, and full Adtec support,” says Brian Adair, director of sales and business development, Adtec Digital. “We were the first to offer both MPEG-2 and AVC in a DSNG platform, and we also innovated and made 16 channels of audio standard. And now we have latency down to one frame, and our platform is much quieter and [energy-efficient] than our competitors’.”

Clients included NBC, the PGA, and transmission-service providers DTAGS and Azzuro. For the Pro Bowl, ESPN and NFL Network used Adtec equipment; for the Super Bowl, Adtec provided encoding support for NBC, NFL Network, and ESPN. Three Adtec staffers had a presence all across town in support of the multiple Pro Bowl- and Super Bowl-related activities.

“Each client had independent kits,” says Adair. “All of our clients had individual contracts with each broadcaster to provide a transmission solution.”

For the Phoenix Open, PGA Tour Productions relied on Adtec for the international feed, and Golf Channel used Adtec for its Morning Drive show.

“PGA used the Hub system they bought last year,” says Adair. “It has two five-channel muxes.”

He adds that it is important for Adtec Digital to support its clients who work so hard at the big events. “With Adtec personnel on the ground, we were able to provide the support they needed.”
