One World Sports Renews Exclusive Agreement to Cover Yomiuri Giants Baseball

ONE World Sports, America’s Network for Global Sports, announced that it has extended its programming agreement with the Nippon Television Network Corporation for Yomiuri Giants baseball in 2015. The network will carry, live, all 71 of the team’s home games, all but three of them exclusively in the United States, beginning with the March 27 home opener.   The agreement also provides for rights to live stream the games and showcase video highlights on the network’s Watch ONE World Sports app.

The Giants play in Japan’s world-renowned Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) league.

“Live Giants baseball programming plays an integral role in our plan to build out the channel as the go-to network for global sports,” said Joel Feld, executive vice president, programming and production of ONE World Sports. “We are fast becoming the destination of choice for fans of international sports content regardless of the platform and we are in prime position to grow the category while providing significant value to our distribution, sales and marketing partners.”

“We have built a good relationship with ONE World Sports and have broadcast the Giants’ baseball games in the United States for two years,” said Yukiko Kimishima, Divisional President, International Business Development, Nippon TV.  “We are pleased to continue broadcasting the games in the United States for the 2015 season. I hope more and more Americans will enjoy the Japanese baseball games and teams throughout the season. I also hope that this season’s broadcast will strengthen the connection between Nippon Professional Baseball and U.S. Major League Baseball.”

ONE World Sports talent calling the action will include Ed Cohen, who recently signed a multi-year agreement with the network, Jon Meterparel and Keith Irizarry.
