DirecTV Refines ‘Masters Experience’ for 2015 Tournament

Like a professional golfer fine-tuning their swing, DirecTV has refined its “Masters Experience” for sports fans who want even more immersion in the game’s signature event – the 2015 Masters Tournament.

DirecTV will provide the most comprehensive coverage of the Masters Tournament beginning April 9 through its exclusive six-screens-in-one HD Masters Mosaic channel featuring CBS Sports and ESPN telecasts. And new this year, the interactive app will have faster download speeds and deliver more stats, including the number of titles and best Masters finishes for the top 10 players going into the Tournament, along with links to the Leader Board, Scorecard, Groups, Tee Times, and Player Bios.

DirecTV is also simplifying the process of viewing on-demand highlights of the day’s rounds and previous rounds by streaming them directly on the app from Masters.com – with no need to go outside the app to a VOD page.

The Masters Mosaic (701) will display the main CBS Sports/ESPN feed (702); two “Featured Group” channels (703-704); “Amen Corner” (705), complete coverage of the most famous stretch of Augusta National; holes 15 and 16 (706); and “Masters in Depth” (707), along with a continuously running leader board featuring live tee times, scoring and leaders’ locations on the course. Each extra channel is fully produced with its own announcers. The video cells on the Mix will dynamically update – from six to four to two – as bonus channels go off the air later in the day, for a better view of all the late-round play. The Masters Experience will be broadcast April 9-12 – Thursday and Friday from 3-7:30 p.m. ET, Saturday 3-7 p.m. ET, and Sunday 2-7 p.m. ET.

“Each year, the tradition and drama of the Masters Tournament continues to inspire us to make what is already the best viewing experience even better,” said Dan York, executive vice president of Programming and chief content officer, DirecTV. “DirecTV is proud of its long association with Augusta National and we look forward to many more years of partnership.”

This year, DirecTV’s Tournament coverage will also include the 2015 Masters Preview Show premiering April 8 at 4:30 p.m. ET on its exclusive Audience Network (channels 101 and 239). CBS Sports golf announcers Jim Nantz and Ian Baker-Finch speak to past and present Masters players, including defending champion Bubba Watson, three-time Masters champion and CBS Sports’ lead golf analyst Sir Nick Faldo, and 21-year-old sensation Jordan Spieth – only on DirecTV. The 2014 Masters Official Film is also now airing on Audience Network.
