SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards Draws Record Number of Entries

The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that more than 400 entries were received for this year’s SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards competition. That marks a 30% increase over last year’s totals and sets a new high for total entries received in the competition’s seven-year history.

College Sports Media AwardsThe SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards recognize the best in college sports video production from national networks, regional networks and conference digital networks, collegiate athletic departments, and students. The CSMAs aim to celebrate those who have pushed the envelope and set a higher standard for the quality of live and pre-/post-produced college sports video content.

“The College Sports Media Awards have seen tremendous growth over the past few years and the quality of the content being submitted is more impressive each time,” says Ken Kerschbaumer, Executive Director, Editorial for the Sports Video Group. “These awards have truly chronicled the maturation of the college sports video industry and this year’s competition is a credit to all of the hard work being done by very talented men and women at networks, conference offices, and college campuses across the country.”

A blue-ribbon panel of sports video and television industry professionals will judge the competition and finalists will be announced by SVG and NACDA on the week of May 10. Entrants submitted in divisions including Live Game Production, Program Series, Special Features, Live Studio/Remote-Hosted Programming, and Program Open, Tease, Promotional Video, PSA, and Campaigns.

“Our partnership with SVG and the College Sports Media Awards has been instrumental in showcasing the efforts of athletics administrators throughout the industry,” said NACDA Executive Director Bob Vecchione. “To see the quality and quantity of submissions grow each year has been a true testament to the evolving video industry and NACDA is thrilled to be a part of it.”

Winners and finalists will be honored during a ceremony on May 28 at the 2015 SVG College Sports Summit (May 27-29, Omni Hotel at CNN Center, Atlanta).

The SVG College Sports Summit is the leading, national conference for college sports video production, bringing together more than 500 industry leaders from broadcast networks, athletic departments, broadcast schools, production companies, and more.
