Mark Pesavento becomes Senior VP of Content for FOX Sports Digital
Former USA Today Sports and Yahoo! Sports executive Mark Pesavento has been named Senior Vice President of Content for FOX Sports Digital.
Pesavento will oversee all editorial and video content development for FOX Sports Digital, with an emphasis on multiplatform programming and continued growth through mobile consumption and social media sharing. He will also help manage FOX Sports’ relationships with key social media partners, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, among others.
Pesavento joins FOX Sports Digital from USA Today Sports Media Group, where he launched the social news site ‘For The Win’ and turned it into one of the fastest-growing digital sports properties in the industry.
“Mark’s track record of success in developing social media driven content will be a tremendous asset as we look for opportunities to reach fans across all platforms,” says Pete Vlastelica, Executive Vice President, Digital, FOX Sports. “FOX Sports Digital has had a strong year so far in 2015. We’ve set new benchmarks for video views, social media referrals, and mobile consumption, and we will look to Mark to help continue that momentum.”
While at USA Today Sports Media Group, Pesavento served as Vice President of Digital Strategy where he oversaw all aspects of digital content creation and property development, including ‘For The Win’, ‘FantasyScore’, the USA Today Sports mobile app, and USA Today’s Sports Digital Properties, a network of owned and affiliate sites.
Prior to that, Pesavento was a Managing Editor at Yahoo! Sports, where he oversaw the development of their blogs and social media and helped push Yahoo! Sports into No. 1 in comScore. He also served as Assistant Managing Editor of programming at Yahoo, spent two years as Yahoo’s MLB editor, and was the lead editor on three Olympics.
Earlier in his career, Pesavento was the sports editor of LATimes.com from 1999-2005. He started his career as an editor at The Sporting News in 1999.
