Seen on Screen: NBCSN to Debut New Auto Reality Show; SEC Network Plans New Show SEC Inside

NBCSN will debut a new automotive reality series, Mobsteel, which follows a Detroit-based custom car shop that transforms vintage American cars into modern-day street machines. The eight-episode series will debut Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. ET, immediately following NBCSN’s coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 from Michigan International Speedway.

Mobsteel follows founder Adam Genei and his team of custom-car specialists, including his wife Pam Genei, as they restore vehicles ranging from the finest relics of the American automotive boom, to an old International Harvester Loadstar, and much more. Mobsteel is an existing custom-car shop that was founded more than 10 years ago, using vintage parts and Detroit steel to bring these ancient American cars back to life.

The premiere episode of Mobsteel focuses on a 1963 Lincoln Continental that the team works to restore for a Detroit-area second-generation pipefitter who’s looking for the Mobsteel car of his dreams. New episodes will air Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN following the series premiere, with encore presentations of the prior week’s episode airing Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET…

…SEC Network announced a new show, SEC Inside, today at the Southeastern Conference Media Days in Hoover, Ala. Each week, a half-hour episode will focus on a select team and explore previously unaired footage and sounds from game preparation, the sideline and following the final whistle. SEC Inside will air on Wednesday nights as companion programming to SEC Film Room. The network has plans to extend the show into the spring, highlighting men’s & women’s basketball tournaments. This fall, each football team is the focus of its own episode with the season culminating at the SEC Championship game…

…SEC Network unveiled five new football-related SEC Storied documentaries slated to run in September. Produced by ESPN Films – creator of the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning 30 for 30 series – the documentaries will debut on five consecutive Tuesday evenings throughout September at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.

The first film, “Wuerffel’s Way,” is a documentary focused on the journey of former Florida quarterback Danny Wuerffel – from winning the Heisman Trophy and a national championship to spearheading the Desire Street Academy in New Orleans and leading recovery efforts for that community outreach program after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina ten years ago. A special premiere of the film is scheduled to air on ESPN on the eve of the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The roster of new SEC Storied films also includes the extraordinary turnaround of Auburn football in 2013, the sudden and tragic death of Bo Rein before he ever coached his first game at LSU, the acceptance that All-American defensive end Michael Sam found at the University of Missouri, and the odyssey of the late Alabama star linebacker Derrick Thomas through the eyes of a son he never knew…

…NBA TV will premiere three new episodes of After Dark with Rick Fox starting that started July 10. The three Las Vegas-focused shows – with episode two airing Saturday, July 18, at 1 a.m. and the third installment on Sunday, July 19, at 11 p.m. – will be hosted by NBA TV analyst Rick Fox. The former NBA star and television and film actor will visit with a wide range of sports, entertainment and lifestyle personalities throughout the series.

All three premiere episodes will cap the night’s programming following NBA TV’s game coverage and The Starters from NBA Summer League 2015. In the first 30-minute episode, Fox spends time with his co-stars from the recently released film Dope, taking a behind-the-scenes look at the movie’s recent premiere with producer and narrator Forest Whitaker, along with a visit to the recording studio with hip hop artist A$AP Rocky. The Las Vegas nightlife is also showcased with a segment featuring Jermaine Dupri talking about his residency as a DJ at the Wynn’s Tryst nightclub, and his new single with Bow Wow. Also, Fox and his former Lakers teammate Shaquille O’Neal explore the city, with O’Neal – aka “DJ Diesel” – deejaying a party and then assisting in a wedding service. Fox also cooks with Michael Mina as the award-winning chef talks about his Las Vegas restaurants.

Future episodes will feature Inside the NBA’s Charles Barkley and NBA championship coach Steve Kerron the golf course in Lake Tahoe, actor Donald Faison, former NBA All-Star Baron Davis on his Drew League documentary, performers from Cirque du Soleil and more.
