South Korea’s YTN Selects TVUPack for Eurasia Friendship Railway Project

TVU Networks announced that TVUPack IP video transmission solutions were used by South Korea’s leading broadcast network, YTN, to capture and deliver live video content from the recently completed Eurasia Friendship Railway Project.

During the 14,400km journey through multiple countries, YTN used TVU Networks’ Global Rental Program to acquire TVU Networks’ mobile uplink backpack solution to broadcast in real-time to viewers in South Korea. Through TVU’s Rental Program, YTN’s team was able to report live from Vladivostok, Moscow, Warsaw, and Berlin.

TVU-LOGO-mbl-TVU Networks played a critical role in broadcasting this highly symbolic, inter-continental express train project. TVU deployed additional TVUPacks to longtime partner, YTN, through TVU Network’s flexible and convenient Global Rental Program. Through this program, YTN was able to ensure the highest level of transmission from various key stops throughout the journey, regardless of the changing bandwidth constraints and while providing the most optimal picture quality.

“TVU Global Rental Program was fundamentally important to YTN’s coverage of the Eurasia express train journey. To capture footage from each of the key stops along the lengthy journey, we required additional TVUPacks,” says Hyungil Park, YTN Technical Planning Team Manager. “We have been using TVUPacks to transmit news from all over South Korea since 2011, and we knew would could rely on TVU for this purpose, as well. TVUPacks are made for this sort of mobile broadcasting and this was such a large and important event, we could not risk using a product we weren’t confident with.”

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korea Railroad Corporation (Korail) co-sponsored this ambitious railway project meant to promote peace and unity throughout Eurasia, and we had a firm understanding of how important this was to the people of South Korea and how essential our role was in bringing them closer to the news,” continues Park.

“TVU was truly a loyal partner to us as we embarked on this project. We relied on TVU Networks in four crucial cities throughout the 20-day expedition. This was of vital importance, as the viewers and people of South Korea relied on YTN to provide the most accurate, real-time news of this unprecedented journey. This was undoubtedly the most cost-effective and seamless way to provide this sort of coverage. TVU provided the necessary packs and equipment to ensure we would have the best connection, strongest signal and highest picture quality to report back to our loyal viewers in South Korea,” says Park.

Through its simple one-button operation and ability to simultaneously transmit over multiple combinations of cellular, WiFi, microwave and satellite links, TVUPack enables broadcasters to deliver live HD video from practically any location. TVUPack also offers broadcasters TVU’s proprietary Inverse StatMux Plus (IS+) transmission protocol to ensure enhanced resilience and superior picture quality in fluctuating bandwidth conditions, as well as the ability to transmit HD video with sub-second latency.

TVU Networks will be presenting its full suite of live, IP video solutions at IBC, September 11-15, 2015 in Amsterdam. TVU Networks team will be on-site in hall 2, stand B28, doing live demonstrations of TVU Networks’ solutions and products, including the most recent, highly anticipated innovation, TVU One.
