Shaw Media Enhances Broadcast Management Suite With arvato Systems

Shaw Media, a division of Shaw Communications, and one of the largest media companies in Canada, extended its long-standing relationship with arvato Systems and to enhance the existing broadcast management suite with Avatega On Demand and AdStore for non-linear scheduling and advertising sales management.

As traditional revenue streams are challenged across the market, Shaw recognized an opportunity to extend their activities on their networks and digital channels with Video-On-Demand offerings and online advertising. They have the vision of providing campaigns that work across multiple platforms. To achieve this, they need a system that can support a cross-platform workflow, where data and effort duplication would be eliminated and transactions could be automated – all with the highest degree of quality assurance.

A wide variety of existing systems for different linear and non-linear platforms, including disconnected processes for selling content, scheduling content and rights management make the goal of cross-media monetization seem difficult to achieve.

Shaw Media decided to extend its relationship with arvato Systems and to enhance their existing broadcast management suite with two additional arvato Systems products: Avatega On Demand, arvato Systems’ VOD management solution for multichannel video content- and programming distributors, content owners, broadcasters, and content aggregators; and arvato Systems’ AdStore solution, which manages the advertising sales process across media platforms. Both systems were added and are integrated with the existing Broadcast Management System.

With the implementation of the new products Shaw Media’s workflows are driven from acquisition through license administration, program planning, and advertising sales, while supporting their xVOD (Extended-Video-On-Demand) business models.

With the help of arvato Systems’ products and expertise, Shaw Media is now able to unify the commercial inventory into a single access point and create a single process for cross-media sales, offering their clients customized campaigns which intelligently use content from multiple platforms.
