Bannister Lake Makes Super Ticker Flow Available to Educational Institutions

Bannister Lake Software has agreed to make its Super Ticker Flow (STF) software available to educational institutions that have active communications and media departments. The software will be issued at no cost; only a nominal annual software maintenance agreement is required.

STF, in use by major North American broadcast organizations, is a scalable content management solution that aggregates information and data in a centralized database for graphic display. Data includes news tickers, alerts, headlines, stories, events, weather updates, financials, social media, local school closings, sports scores and updates, traffic, ski reports, lotteries, election returns, sponsored elements, and other in-the-moment information.

According to company president Georg Hentsch, “exposing students learning broadcast technology to a data management and display system will help those students understand how information is acquired, parsed and displayed in a breaking news environment.   We believe the experience of integrating a dynamic data solution into their learning environment will be of great value.” He went on to say, “we are pleased to offer our product at no capital cost to teaching institutions so they can give their students real-world experience.”

Content for STF can come from virtually any commercial or free data source including RSS feeds. Templates are built with the graphics package used by the facility; the data is then aggregated in the STF data base, and then displayed in each field of the pre-built template as required.   The STF system also enables multi-user and multi-channel operation, which makes it ideal for networks with both national and regional data, and playout centers with multiple channels.
