Digital Comm Link Provides Satellite, IP Transport Services to Sports Industry

The Sports Video Group is pleased to welcome Digital Comm Link as a corporate sponsor. Headquartered in Davie, FL, with operations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Tallahassee, and Naples, Digital Comm Link was established in 1995 to service the television-broadcast industry. Since then, the company has grown into a full-service video-, voice-, and data-transmission company, offering a wide range of services from C- and Ku-band satellite communications to ISP, co-location, and teleport services.

DigitalCommLinkDigital Comm Link owns and operates two HD/SD Ku dual-path satellite trucks, each capable of 1080p, 1080i, and 720p with 16 channels of audio. The trucks are strategically located to service the Keys, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Jupiter, Naples, and Fort Myers metro areas and are available to travel to other metro areas within and outside Florida. The company also operates 14 HD/SD studio live-shot and play-out facilities used primarily by sports and news networks throughout Florida as well as in Charlotte, NC; Des Moines, IA; Houston; St. Louis; Topeka, KS; and Washington.

“Our technology’s strength is its ability to transport broadcast-quality content over the public [Internet] as though it was a video fiber circuit,” says VP of Marketing Said Khan, “Our goal is to become the leading sports- and news-content–delivery IP platform used by the television-broadcast industry.”

In response to ever growing demand for HD broadcast-quality video via IP transmission, Digital Comm Link has developed and deployed the Digicaster managed IP transport platform, which delivers live bidirectional H.264/MPEG-4 ASI/SDI streams via the public Internet without the need for fiber, point-to-point, or DIA circuits. The company’s patent-pending technology is currently being used by studio/playout facilities, broadcast-distribution networks, corporations, television-broadcast networks, teleports, broadcast-switching networks, universities, and newsgathering organizations.

As a VYVX (Level 3) First Video Affiliate with 32 transmit and receive ASI- and SDI-video switch ports, a teleport and Managed IP Transport Platform have made Digital Comm Link’s one of Southeast Florida’s most prolific providers of video-communication services.

The company recently transported over its Managed IP Transport Platform using the public Internet a broadcast-quality ASI live stream of an NASL soccer match between United FC and Strikers from Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale to a broadcast-switching network in Quebec, which then sent it over its fiber network to the television station in Brazil. Digital Comm Link transports various sports events on a daily basis all via public Internet from the WAC conference venues to the WAC Digital Network.
