BSC Expo 2016: Tiffen To Showcase M-1 Steadicam Rig

Tiffen International will attend BSC Expo 2016 and give Steadicam operators, and those who want to be, a chance to see the new M-1 rig, which is being praised by an increasing number of new owners.

tiffenThe first to be delivered went to Max Zaher, Steadicam operator based in Germany and shooting internationally. “Shooting has changed — now nobody wants to wait,” he says. “Setup has to be fast and solid and the M-1 can do this. I can quickly balance and change modes and I love that it’s all tool free, including the G70x arm, and also that it’s designed to be easily updated in the future. It’s easy to maintain static and dynamic balance in either high mode or low mode, and to switch back and forth is a matter of minutes, which frees me to concentrate on the real job of shooting.”

Neal Bryant, Los Angeles, US-based Steadicam operator, says: “The fast pace of television demands a rig that configures quickly, and the M-1 has been able to give me exactly what I need, as soon as I need it. For me, what immediately stands out about the sled is I have the ability to position the masses anywhere I like. I can have the monitor high and the batteries low, or I can make the rig completely coplanar, all in the span of about 30 seconds. – It’s obvious that a lot of thought and care was put into every facet of this rig.”

At the show, attendees can see the M-1 rigged with the G-70x arm and Exovest, an excellent combination for motion pictures, studio work, drama, location, sport, and more. The Tiffen International team will be there on stand 500 — Terry Carey, Robin Thwaites, Danny Hallett, Eren Ibrahim, and Kevan Parker.

Tiffen filter products will be there too, with three new diffusion filters on hand: Blk SFX, Blk Glimmer Glass, Blk Pearlescent; also the new Multi Rota Tray, and new range of IRND combos.

On show also Lowel’s new PRO Power LED, the ideal solution to run and gun location lighting. Powerful output, wide focus range fresnel lens allow lighting from greater distance, getting more of the location into your shot. Lowel’s new Prime Location LED system will also be on display, featuring sturdy all-metal construction with IP-65 weather rating and powerful high CRI Daylight or Tungsten output.
