University of Oklahoma Expands SoonerVision Live Production Capabilities With EVS

The University of Oklahoma (OU) has expanded its SoonerVision studio workflows with new 12-channel XT3 live production servers for a total of 36 channels from EVS. The new system, which features equipment upgrades and additions to SoonverVision’s existing XT3 servers, also includes the IPDirector content management suite and LSM Connect for touchscreen clips and playlist management — making it one of the most advanced live production systems in college sports today.

Signing-Day-EVS2According to Assistant A.D./Broadcast Operations Brandon Meier, the new system enables a more streamlined production workflow and dramatically improves the production quality at SoonerVision, which provides production services for the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department. “This system supports our new high frame rate Super Motion cameras and makes the push/pull from our non-linear editing and archive system work much more efficiently,” says Meier. “These critical new capabilities, which include XT MotBox configuration for multiple channels of key/fill, give us a whole new range of higher quality, faster and more efficient content production, and ultimately enables even better viewing experiences.”

SoonerVision produces all content for Sooner Sports TV, OU’s multiplatform network. Sooner Sports TV programming is delivered on a variety of FOX Sports and cable outlets, and includes a variety of original programming and studio shows, live webcasts and on-demand video content including highlights, features, interviews, classic videos, and more.

SoonerVision also produces and operates the video and scoreboard displays that appear in Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, the Lloyd Noble Center, McCasland Field House, L. Dale Mitchell Park, Marita Hynes Field, and the OU Soccer Complex. In addition, SoonerVision’s two onsite control rooms are regularly used by broadcasters like ESPN and FOX, saving the networks the expense and resources of bringing in remote trucks to produce two shows at once – scoreboard and broadcast programming.

The three XT3 live production servers, all enabled by EVS’ Channel MAX for exceeding 12-channel configurations, feature the industry’s most flexible support for the latest Super Motion cameras and the new Dual LSM mode, which increases production ROI by enabling individual camera mapping and advanced capabilities for two simultaneous users.

The system also includes full functionalities of the IPDirector production suite with ingest control, metadata management and playout scheduling from a single interface, XTAccess gateway software, and XFile3 file transfer and archive tool.

“With this live production workflow, there’s no limit to the kind of broadcast and in-stadium content creation SoonerVision can deliver to its fans,” said Stephane Jauroyou, VP sales, North & South America for EVS, EVS. “Our latest production tools will help increase production ROI and open new revenue streams from this expanded content inventory.”
