EEG Launches Virtualized Live-Captioning for IP Video
EEG has introduced iCap Alta, the virtualized live caption encoding engine. With Alta, the Emmy Award-winning iCap Cloud now extends itself to IP and 4K video workflows, as well as integrated playout systems such as Imagine Communications’ VersioCloud.
By adding Alta’s IP, 4K, and Cloud support to the iCap network, all live workflows are now unified seamlessly under one umbrella. This transparency provides a smooth transition from hardware-driven caption insertion and makes closed captioning a natural part of any modern IP or cloud architecture. iCap Alta technology is available as a standalone virtual machine or a software library for custom integration.
Alta is the answer for broadcasters planning closed captioning in new IP video workflows and provides:
- 24/7 connectivity to thousands of iCap-certified transcriptionists around the globe
- Support for migrating caption encoding to the cloud
- Flexible software-defined control of the plant
- Dynamic allocation of processing power and bandwidth
“The captioning component of your workflow must be flexible to move seamlessly across platforms as the industry changes,” says Bill McLaughlin, VP of Product Development for EEG. “As a cloud service, iCap is always adapting to new standards so it can be delivered exactly how it is needed. Having this level of flexibility is key in any service today.”
