Qualcomm Technologies Aims To Enhance Consumers’ Mobile Multimedia Experience

The MPEG-H 3D Audio standard, which includes a novel scene-based audio representation, is designed for content creators, distributors, device manufacturers, and end users. The technology allows creation of spatial audio content especially for live events, including sports, transmitted at low bitrates to a wide variety of devices for an optimally rendered, immersive, and interactive audio user experience.

Supporting scene-based audio (or higher-order ambisonics, [HOA]) and MPEG-H Audio, Qualcomm Technologies is taking important steps toward widespread distribution of both across a range of consumer devices.
