Primestream Secures Significant Adoption Amongst Sports Broadcasters

Primestream has announced significant adoption of its solutions by sports broadcasters. The NBA, Encompass Media, The Tennis Channel, and Werne Production House are among the sports organizations to have recently adopted Primestream’s software to capture, produce, manage, and deliver their programming.

At the start of the 2015-16 NBA regular season, the league launched a new courtside statistician replay system and centralized recordings for capturing games at all 29 stadiums, all managed from the NBA’s Secaucus, NJ’s Replay Center using Primestream’s FORK software. The solution records an HD back-up and an h.264 proxy version for each game in every arena. Courtside, statisticians can review plays and log games in the arena and the h.264 proxy is delivered to a portable flash drive for the referees to take with them to review their calls.

Primestream_Sports momentum storyEncompass, a global leader in mission-critical media capture, management and distribution services, needed to expand its Atlanta facility to enable live ingest, real-time logging and integration with Adobe Premiere Pro for their coverage of CONCACAF soccer games. Encompass uses the FORK Ingest and Logger modules to capture live game feeds while simultaneously adding metadata to the media. With all assets centralized, editors can quickly find relevant media for highlight packages using the Primestream Media Asset Management panel built into Adobe Premiere Pro.

The Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and tennis lifestyle, deployed Primestream’s capture, media asset management, archiving, and non-linear editor integration at its Santa Monica facility. The Tennis Channel uses eight channels of live ingest in a Primestream solution integrated with Adobe Premiere Pro. Final versions are made available in Primestream Xchange, enabling remote browsing and review and approval workflows.  Final cuts as well as all of the raw highlights are managed by FORK and stored in the SGL archive. Primestream’s latest generation archive integration enables browsing of proxy assets and seamless partial-file-restore of the high-resolution source material when needed for re-purposing of content.

Located in Helsinki, Finland, Tuotantotalo Werne (Werne Production House) services two of the Nordic region’s leading media groups, ViaSat Sport Finland and Sanoma Media, with ingest, media management, logging, editing, archiving, material services and playout for the Finnish national ice hockey league, professional football (soccer) games, and various other programming. A Primestream client since 2009, Werne recently underwent a large upgrade, adding two 24/7 FORK Master Control Playout channels, FORK Logger and FORK Live Assist. For external access to Werne’s Media Asset Management database and archive, Werne added Xchange Suite to give customers Web access to browse proxy media and the ability to request the high-resolution source material from archive for their own editorial use.

Dynamic Media Management virtualizes media, enabling users to instantly access, automate and manage content based on any definable criteria. Primestream’s suite of software seamlessly integrates capture, production, management and delivery of all assets for workflows as far ranging as traditional broadcast to OTT or mobile.
