CTG Mourns Passing of Former Employee Sam Arnold

With great sadness, Comprehensive Technical Group (CTG) has announced that former employee and friend Sam Arnold passed away this week from Parkinson’s disease. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jo and his extended family.

Arnold was well known in the broadcast industry and had a broad knowledge of the industry from his more than 50 years in the industry. He was born in Memphis, TN. Throughout his career, Arnold worked at a number of companies that included: EWTN, Channel 31 WAFG-TV, Sony, Southern Digital Products, Inc., and Crescent Communications. He finished his career at CTG.

His Early Days at WAFG-TV Channel 31
Arnold was one of the very first employees of Channel 31 in 1960 when the station was WAFG-TV in Huntsville, AL. He directed news casts, Romper Room, and even taped shows like the Schlitz’s (Joe Adams) Gone Fishin’ show. He also shot and processed film, slides (all black and white, of course), wrote and produced commercials, as well as managed a master control room.

Arnold worked at Southern Digital Products, Inc. as a Sales Representative for eight years. He was responsible for sales to television networks, TV stations, houses of worship, educational institutions, and corporations. His former boss and owner of the company, Walter Bridges, remembers Arnold fondly: “Sam was Salesman of the Year in four of the eight full years that he worked at the company. He was one of the hardest working people that I’ve known. He was honest and loyal.”

Arnold worked at CTG from 2011 to 2015. His former colleague Cliff Scott states, “He was a brilliant engineer and that helped him in sales. He also was a man of his word and he had a dry sense of humor.”

Comprehensive Technical Group mourns over the loss of Sam Arnold and expresses its condolences to his relatives, friends, and colleagues.
