Panasas Broadens Distributor Relationship With Ingram Micro

Panasas has broadened its relationship with Ingram Micro, a Fortune 100 company that delivers a full spectrum of global technology and supply chain services to businesses around the world. The agreement, which previously focused on the transaction requirements of HP and Dell customers, has been expanded to enable IT channel partners across the United States to procure Panasas storage products directly from Ingram Micro.

Panasas_Logo_HRUnder the agreement, Ingram Micro will distribute the Panasas ActiveStor product line, a fully integrated scale-out NAS solution that delivers ultra-fast streaming and mixed workload performance with true linear scalability for large unstructured data sets. Ingram Micro channel partners will now be better equipped to serve the rapidly emerging performance storage needs of commercial workflows such as precision medicine, computer aided engineering, media rendering, and other previously storage-constrained use cases. Allied with the advent of the Panasas Accelerate Partner Program launched in 2015, these lucrative markets now offer the Ingram Micro channel partner community new revenue streams.

“As large unstructured data sets proliferate, Panasas’ performance storage combined with enterprise manageability and reliability offers a solution businesses need and channel partners can easily monetize and manage,” says Scott Zahl, VP, advanced solutions, Ingram Micro. “We are pleased to welcome Panasas to our growing portfolio of data center-focused vendors in the U.S.”

ActiveStor consists of hybrid storage hardware and the patented PanFS file system supported by Panasas DirectFlow as well as NFS and SMB protocols. In addition to enterprise-grade data management features, ActiveStor incorporates Panasas’ unique approach to erasure code technology, which delivers triple parity protection for reliability that scales with capacity. Entry point systems start below $50,000 for a 66 terabyte (TB) deployment and can easily be scaled out to more than 20 petabytes (PB) with 200 gigabytes per second (GB/s) of performance.

“We are looking forward to working with Ingram Micro to identify new business opportunities and drive the adoption of our distinctive storage solution in the enterprise market,” says Jim Donovan, chief sales and marketing officer at Panasas. “Our value proposition is based on the unmatched combination of scalable performance and reliability, delivered in an easy-to-manage, cost-effective appliance; something that sets us apart from all competitors in the performance scale out market space.”
