BVPS 2016: Leader To Demo Latest 4K-capable Test, Measurement Gear

Leader Electronics Europe will demonstrate the latest additions to its range of broadcast test and measurement products at the 2016 Broadcast Video Production Show in Dublin. Organized by D+P Multimedia Products Limited / www.camerakit.ie, the event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport hotel, May 2324. Over 120 manufacturers will be represented.

LEADER“BVPS is very much a show for camera owner/operators, most of whom are still predominantly active in HD content production,” comments Kevin Salvidge, Leader’s European Regional Development Manager. “Our main product focus will therefore be on the LV5333 3G HD/SD-SDI-waveform monitor. For visitors considering investing in 4K content production we also be demonstrating the LV5490 with various new options, plus the LV7390 four-channel 3G/HD/SDI rasteriser.”

Leader LV5333 multi SDI waveform monitor
Compatible with over 20 HD-SDI/SD-SDI formats, the Leader LV5333 is designed for deployment in studios, technical areas or attached to a video camera support tripod. The LV5333 incorporates a 6.5 inch XGA TFT LCD screen which can be used to display video signal waveform, vectorscope or video image. Features include cable length display, external timing display and field frequency deviation display. SDI-embedded audio can be extracted and two user-selectable audio channels sent as an AES/EBU stream to a BNC output. The levels of up to eight channels of embedded audio can be checked using on-screen bar displays. Audio can also be monitored via the headphone output.

User-configurable multi-display combinations within the LV5333 allow easy inspection of signal parameters. Full-screen displays can alternatively be selected to allow detailed review of specific elements. The LV5333 can be set to display YCbCr, YRGB, YGBR, GBR or RGB luminance waveform, colour vector, five-bar, surround-sound level, status or video source. Freeze mode allows comparison of different SDI input signals. Thumbnail picture display can be selected with other multi-display operating modes for easy source identification. Input format, colorimetry, black burst or tri-level external reference input are auto-sensed. Any line of the video signal can selected and displayed in waveform, vector or five-bar representations.

The LV5333 occupies a 215 x 128 x 63 mm housing and weighs 1.3 kg. It can be powered from battery or a universal mains adapter.

Leader LV5490 4K/UHD/3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SD-SDI waveform monitor
The LV5490 offers 4K, UHD, HD and SD text and measurement features in a compact portable unit which can be operated on mains or battery power. 12G-SDI connectivity is achieved via an optional interface card equipped with four SD-SDI inputs. This will support 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI quad link, 3G-SDI dual-link and HD-SDI, each input handling a quarter of the 4096 x 2160 pixel 4K or 3840 x 2160 pixel UHD image. A reclocked 12G-SDI output is also provided. Recently announced options for the LV5490 include CINEZONE-HDR which allows broadcasters and production companies to measure HDR while ensuring standard dynamic range (SDR) viewers are not compromised. Also available for the LV5490 is support for analysis of high frame-rate 4K signals at up to 8x real-time. Also available are a 12G-SDI interface for the LV5490 plus the first public appearance of a video over IP interface based on Sony’s Networked Media Interface (NMI).

Leader LV7390 4K/UHD/3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SD-SDI rasterizer
Leader’s LV7390 is a compact 1U 3G/HD/SD-SDI rasterizer which can be used to measure up to four source channels simultaneously. It can be deployed for desktop or rack-mounted operation. Designed for easy connection into 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI systems, the LV7390 incorporates full-resolution 3G/HD-SDI and DVI-I rasterized outputs which allow detailed video and audio parameters be checked on a separate monitor in full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution. Measurements can be displayed as waveform, vector, picture, audio and SDI status. Display layout is user customisable from a wide range of available settings including individual full screen or user-defined combinations. These settings can be configured from the front panel or via a standard USB pointing device and then saved for fast recall. 60 user-definable presets are accessible. These can be labeled and displayed on-screen. A reference marker can be placed at any position on the rasterized image.
