Cine Video Expo: Leader Demos Latest in Broadcast Test and Measurement Product Range

Leader Instruments will demonstrate the latest additions to its broadcast test and measurement product range at Telemundo’s Cine Video Expo in Mexico. The biggest exhibition of its kind in Latin America, Cine Video Expo is currently being held at the Mexico City World Trade Center through July 1.

LEADER“Exhibiting on stand D-11C, we will be introducing the LT4610 3G/HD/SD multi-format video sync generator to CVE attendees,” details Leader Instruments’ Market Development Manager Hiromitsu ‘Matsu’ Matsubayashi. “Also new options for the LV5490 and LV5480. These comprise HDR measurement capability, 12G-SDI input and NMI interface plus support for Sony’s IP Live Video. A new 4K input option for the LV7390 rasterizer will be demonstrated. In addition, we will show exhibit two third-party products which we represent in the Americas: the Shibasoku VC-7 multi-standard integrated converter and the Rover HD TAB 9 transport stream reader, recorder and analyzer. Our established models LV7770, LV5770A, LV5333, LV5381, LT4100 will also be on demonstration.”

Leader LT4610 3G/HD/SD multi-format video sync generator
Designed for use in broadcast studios, mobile production vehicles, postproduction companies and broadcast equipment maintenance facilities, the LT4610 provides an exceptionally wide range of capabilities within a compact 1U x 15.75 inches (400 mm) deep footprint. Test patterns available from the LT4610 include 100% and 75% color bars, multi-format color bars and SDI check fields with user-selectable scrolling in eight combinations of up/down/left/right. Scrolling speed is user adjustable from 1 to 256 pixels or lines. Y/G, Cb/B, Cr/R components can be turned on or off independently for each output channel. QVGA (320 pixel x 240 line) 24-bit full color bitmap logos can be transferred into the generator via USB memory and added to any test pattern.

The LT4610 has a genlock input and can be synchronized with NTSC/PAL black burst or HD tri-level sync signals. Six independent analog black burst reference signals are provided, which can be changed to tri-level sync. A 48 kHz word clock output and 48 kHz AES/EBU output are also provided for synchronizing audio signals. Standard support for SNMP via Ethernet makes it easy to integrate the LT4610 into a network environment. Alarms are generated with SNMP and displayed on the front panel when errors do occur. A redundant power supply with fast automatic switchover is included as standard.

Leader LV5490 4K/UHD/3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SD-SDI broadcast test and measurement platform
Leader’s LV5490 offers 4K, UHD, HD and SD text and measurement features in a compact portable unit. Waveform, vector, and picture display can all be viewed at the same time on the LV5490’s 9 inch LCD monitor. The monitor is full 1920 x 1080 resolution HD with wide viewing angle and high colour reproduction. A 1920 x 1080 HD DVI and HD-SDI rasterized output is also provided to feed a larger monitor. Simultaneous viewing of up to four SDI inputs is possible, including overlays. The size and location of individual channels can be adjusted on the display using a USB mouse so the user is not limited to fixed-size quadrants. The LV5490 can also be controlled remotely using standard KVM tools. Additional features of the LV5490 include video frame capture, instrumentation screen capture, timecode display and ID display. Leader’s CINELITE II toolset (comprising CINELITE and CINEZONE) also comes as a standard feature, allowing easy assessment of relative exposure and overall luminance during production. A Focus Assist option allows highly accurate on-set adjustment of camera focus to match the 4K format’s ability to handle very precise image detail.

Three new options for the LV5490 and its sister product, the LV5580, have been introduced:

* High Dynamic Range (HDR) measurement. This employs an HDR display using Leader’s highly intuitive CINEZONE false colors to highlight areas of concern when operating with HDR content. The Leader HDR display supports SMPTE ST2084 (Dolby PQ curve) and ARIB STD B-67 (BBC/NHK Hybrid Log Gamma).

*12G-SDI connectivity. This option supports 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI quad link, 3G-SDI dual-link and HD-SDI, each input handling a quarter of the 4096 x 2160 pixel 4K or 3840 x 2160 pixel UHD image. The interface also incorporates a reclocked 12G-SDI output. 12G-SDI eye pattern with jitter measurements will be available as an option.

* Support for Sony’s IP Live Video, and the Networked Media Interface technology.

Leader LV5480 4K-upgradable broadcast test and measurement platform
Leader’s LV5480 is an SD/HD version of the LV5490. It can be upgraded quickly and easily to the full LV5490 feature set.

Leader LV7390 4K/UHD/3G-SDI/HD-SDI/SD-SDI rasterizer
Leader’s LV7390 is a compact 1U 3G/HD/SD-SDI rasterizer which can be used to measure up to four source channels simultaneously. It can be deployed for desktop or rack-mounted operation. Designed for easy connection into 3G-SDI, HD-SDI and SD-SDI systems, the LV7390 incorporates full-resolution 3G/HD-SDI and DVI-I rasterized outputs which allow detailed video and audio parameters be checked on a separate monitor in full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution. Measurements can be displayed as waveform, vector, picture, audio, and SDI status. Display layout is user customisable from a wide range of available settings including individual full screen or user-defined combinations. These settings can be configured from the front panel or via a standard USB pointing device and then saved for fast recall. 60 user-definable presets are accessible. These can be labeled and displayed on-screen. A reference marker can be placed at any position on the rasterized image.

ShibaSoku VC7 multi-format standards converter
The ShibaSoku VC7 is a multi-format standards converter incorporating advanced dynamic vector and motion compensation. Multiple intermediate fields are calculated by shifting the position of the moving image based on the direction and magnitude of its motion. This results in razor-sharp natural motion playback free from the video ‘stuttering’ which often accompanies camera panning and the tracking of fast moving objects. The VC7 can convert between up to 10 commonly used video signal formats. The standard version comes with 1080/59.94i and 1080/50i inputs and outputs. Support for 1080/29.97PsF, 1080/25PsF, 1080/24PsF,1080/23.98PsF, 720/59.94p, 720/50p, 625i/50 and 525i/59.94 formats is available as an option. Operational features include automatic input/output selection, ancillary timecode, linear timecode and vertical interval timecode conversion and an ancillary data transfer function making conversions easier and more effective. Automatic aspect ratio selection is also provided, supporting 16:9, 15:9, 14:9, 13:9 and 4:3.

Rover HD TAB 9 transport stream reader, recorder, and analyzer
The Rover Instruments HD TAB 9 allows the user to carry out analysis and measurements that are  typically found in broadcasting applications.  The built-in transport stream analyzer can analyse the stream demodulated by the tuner or injected through the ASI input. It can check for the presence of priority 1, 2, and 3 errors in accordance with ETR 101290. The HD TAB 9 has a coaxial F connector input to provide RF measurements.  There are also ASI IN and OUT BNC connectors for looking at a transport stream.  An optical/electrical converter to perform power and attenuation measurements is optional.  There is a common interface slot and an HDMI output.  An IPTV option provides an input for a transport stream over IP which will de-encapsulate the contents of the IP stream, perform quality measurements and decode the services transported.
