NeuLion, Nokia Partner to Deliver Live 360 Video and Virtual Reality Content

NeuLion announced a new partnership with Nokia to deliver a professional solution utilizing the NeuLion Digital Platform and Nokia’s OZO virtual reality camera and OZO Player SDK.

Neulion 400x300_0Nokia OZO is a spherical camera that has eight sensors and eight microphones for seamless capture and postproduction of immersive 3D 360 virtual reality content. Working with one of NeuLion’s partners, NeuLion and Nokia recently captured a live event using OZO, which was positioned inside the arena.

“The camera placement in the arena provided a jaw-dropping immersive experience,” says Tarif Sayed, Director of Business Development for Live VR and the OZO Player SDK for Nokia. “We are excited to partner with NeuLion to provide their customers with an integrated solution to deliver 360 and VR experiences over-the-top.”

NeuLion and Nokia will offer content owners and content rights holders an end-to-end jointly integrated platform. This integration will create a single stitched live video feed from OZO cameras sent directly to NeuLion MC Encoders for the live encoding of sports and entertainment events. The encoded stream will then be packaged and delivered by the NeuLion Digital Platform adaptively over the internet to end users on second screens and VR headsets.

“What makes NeuLion stand out is our focus on the experience we create for our customers as they build their OTT and TV Everywhere services,” explains Roy Reichbach, President and CEO of NeuLion. “Now that live 360 video and virtual reality are hitting the mainstream, you need an end-to-end platform that includes production and delivery to make it happen. We are excited to be working with Nokia on this new capability.”

NeuLion and Nokia will be demonstrating their integrated platform at IBC in Amsterdam Sept. 9-12. Nokia and NeuLion will be hosting an immersive video theatre at the NeuLion Booth located in Hall 14, #F.34 where attendees can view the results of recent productions using mobile devices and VR headsets.
