Taiwan’s Formosa Selects Imagine Communications Technology for New Transmission Campus

Imagine Communication announced that it has provided Taiwanese broadcaster Formosa TV with an end-to-end playout solution at the broadcaster’s new transmission control center in Taipei. The installation, designed and managed by local systems integrator Interactive Digital Technologies, is designed to provide Formosa TV with a reliable and high-performance infrastructure to support both current and future playout and distribution operations.

ImagineCommunications_020414At the heart of the new facility is Imagine Communications’ market-leading D-Series advanced playout automation platform. One of the key requirements of the new playout center was the ability to handle eight channels, each broadcasting 24 hours, seven days a week. Formosa TV was already familiar with the highly scalable D-Series from an existing installation that provides world-class device control for linear playout channels and manages the movement of file-based media to multiple delivery platforms. The enterprise-level system delivers reliable, frame-accurate control of high-capacity media distribution environments.

”We started working with Imagine Communications’ automation and transmission control systems in 2011, and we have been particularly impressed by their reliability and functionality,” says Alex Fang, director of engineering at Formosa TV. ”The move to a new campus is crucial for our long-term goals, and we wanted an automation platform we knew we could trust, which is why we returned to Imagine.”

The D-Series automation system tightly integrates with a number of other Imagine Communications products to provide a complete baseband signal-handling system. The end-to-end solution includes a master control switcher, the Platinum VX router, and modular signal processing from the Selenio 6800+ and Selenio X100 product families.

”We are delighted to be playing such a crucial role in the expansion of Formosa TV, which has built a facility that will ensure its ongoing success into the future,” comments Joe Khodeir, senior vice president, Asia Pacific at Imagine Communications. ”With our business partner Interactive Digital Technologies, we have earned a reputation for outstanding customer service and front-end support in Taiwan. Four of the country’s five terrestrial broadcasters are using Imagine Communications’ playout and transmission control solution, making us the prime broadcast technology provider in Taiwan.”
