Seen on Screen: Fox Sports Go Now Available on Xbox One, Chromecast; 60 Minutes Sports Airs Profile of NBA’s Gasol Brothers

In this week’s edition, Fox Sports announces its Fox Sports Go app will now be available on the Google’s Chromecast and the Xbox One, 60 Minutes Sports airs a special involving the family life of NBA All Stars Pau and Marc Gasol, NBA TV premieres the new season of Open Court with a panel of respected NBA head coaches, the Golf Channel airs all-day coverage of Arnold Palmer’s memorial, ESPN Films announces the next three documentaries in their 30 for 30 series, TSN airs its NHL Top 50 Players Special, and more.

fs_go_logoWith the announcement that Google’s Chromecast and Microsoft’s Xbox One will make available Fox Sports Go, the app is now accessible to 100 million US pay TV subscribers. Participating Pay TV subscribers can stream Fox Sport’s extensive list of sports programming, including NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR, NHL, UFC, and college football division games. As with Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, and Amazon Fire TV devices, Xbox One and Chromecast users will have access through the app to Fox and it’s many sports subsidiaries. These include FS1, FS2, Fox Soccer Plus, Fox College Sports, Fox Deportes, and Fox Sports Regional Networks…

…On Oct. 4, 60 Minutes Sports aired a special look into the family life of the 7-foot tall Gasol brothers, All-Star centers for two different teams in the NBA. The profile  showcased their lives in their native Barcelona outside of professional basketball, as well as their competitive natures off the court. 60 Minutes correspondent Jim Axelrod provided viewers with a rare look into the offseason lifestyle of the star centers, when their level of competitiveness is on full display…

…The NBA TV series Open Court premiered its sixth season on Oct. 5 in an hour-long special. Matt Winer hosted a round-table style panel of accomplished head coaches as they discuss several topics relevant to the responsibility of coaching a winning team. This panel of head coaches included Doc Rivers of the LA Clippers, President & Coach Tom Thibodeau of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Mike D’Antoni of the Houston Rockets, Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors, and Terry Stotts of the Portland Trailblazers…

… The Golf Channel devoted an entire day of programming to honor recently passed golf icon Arnold Palmer on Tuesday Oct. 4, including live coverage his memorial service. Morning Drive and Golf Central were both on site prior to the service, which took place at St. Vincent College basilica in Latrobe, PA. Following the conclusion of the memorial service at 1 p.m., the channel aired Arnie, a four-part documentary on the life and career of Arnold Palmer, followed by highlights from his victory at the 1960 Masters and a recap of the memorial service…

… ESPN Films announced the next three installments in their 30 for 30 documentary series, each to be premiered over the next three months. The first will be “Phi Slama Jama,” about the historic University of Houston basketball team of the early 1980s which featured future NBA legends Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler and will premiere Oct. 18. The second is entitled “Hit it Hard,” profiling the rags-to-riches story of pro-golfer John Daly and will premiere Nov. 1. The final movie of the batch is “Catholics vs. Convicts,” revolving around the historic 1988 Notre Dame vs. University of Miami football game, which went down as one of the greatest college football games of all time, premiering on December 10.

…TSN revealed the network’s rankings of the NHL’s best in the seventh annual TSN Hockey Top 50 Players special that aired Oct. 7 at 11:30 a.m. E.T. on TSN5.
